Not massively enthused by the Neil rumour.

Not looked at the stats - so I’m sure someone will show they’re impressive - but eye test wise he’s never really stood out to me.

Would prefer to spend on someone with potential to make it with us in the PL.

Summed up a chunk of our supporters at the moment. Desperate to throw someone under the bus after a wobble, it was kings turn this week… even though since the end of last season hes kept hold of all our best players, brought in the best keeper in the league/added to the squad, bought the stadium and overseen a team that’s been top of the league all season

Said it before, other supporters would piss themselves if they saw some of the shit on here
Not just on here. I used to frequent the Facebook forums. Those are by far the worst, hence me getting back on my defunct SBT account, this is so much better.

Wingbacks are midfielders. The main trait of a midfielder is that the have both attacking and defensive duties. The very definition of a wingback.

I don’t make the rules. Just enforce them.

To add to the hilarity, the 5th of Jan was only the second working day of the year. You need the NHS to do medicals as well as the various offices that register players internally and externally.

King has been a great owner and people worrying about him screwing over Lampard are indulging in conspiracy theory thinking.
I highly doubt the NHS do medicals. If this was the case you'd be waiting till at least October for a January signing to be seen!

Pretty sure Robins mentioned it in an interview once back in 2023/24 iirc.

Look at most top leagues, the top scorers will have just as many wingers or ‘inside forwards’ amongst them as strikers.

In modern football, most teams play 1 striker and therefore, the goal scoring burden typically picked up by two strikers needs to be picked up across the starting 11, hence why AMs and wingers look more and more closer to forwards as years pass.

Sakamoto is not better in his role than EMC, I’m sorry. Even defensively, EMC has overtook Sakamoto in tackles and blocks per 90 as well as possession won in final 3rd period 90. Last season, Sakamoto was comfortably ahead in all but 1 category which demonstrates just how quickly EMC was progressed.

This is not going to be popular, and it pains me to say it as I love him, but Sakamoto has been really poor recently. Regardless of his forward play, you always knew how valuable he was as he constantly helped MvE out. I guess it could be a tactical thing but he doesnt seem to be doing that as much now.

The concepts of defenders / midfielders / forwards are all grounded in 4-4-2 thinking - the game is a lot more fluid now
It baffles me. FL in interview: X player sees himself as an 8, I see him as an 8 turning to a 6. Or Y player sees himself as a 6, I see him as an 8, a 6 and a 10.

Stop saying fucking numbers

His attacking has always been pretty average, the reliance on MVE’s overlapping runs has been there hence MVE consistently has a higher xA and chances created.

His prowess has always been his crossing and his long balls which works when defences aren’t set with 10 men behind the ball. Conducive to counter attacking, not so much against the low block. To beat that you need to move the ball quickly but also wingers who take players on. Rudoni has more chances created, dribbles completed and lower xG+xA in a lot lower minutes. The narrative is that Rudoni doesn’t ’look himself’ (true imo) but Sakamoto goes under the radar in terms of how ineffectual he’s been. He’s not had any poor games, just average performances where his impact on games has been v small.

He’s not a bad player, it’s just that our fans massively overrate him and he’s not as good as people think. For where we are, he’ll be a quality rotation player.

Someone like Esse, for example, will add so much to the team because he’s dynamic.

I don’t think Sakamoto is run down, his stats are pretty consistent from 23/24, 24/25 and 25/26.

His attacking stats this season are strong than last season but slightly less than 23/24 (smallest sample). In conclusion, his numbers aren’t as good as you think.
