If Esse is to happen it probably won't be until Senegal are finished with AFCON and Sarr returns to them, so there's every chance that wouldn't be until after the Leicester game by the looks of it.

Of other names mentioned I get the impression that Manneh is not happening. I don't want O'Nein simply because I don't think he's very good, and I don't see where he would fit in. He surely wouldn't displace Thomas or Kitching, or be ahead of Woolfenden either. I'm not over keen on Dan Neill either but if we have to sign a Sunderland player I would rather it be him.

I understand the Huddersfield manager has said Castledine is remaining with them for the rest of the season too, so we can probably discount him joining us.

January is not a buyers market. We'll end up with a deadline day panic loan. Doug's lack of proactivity in the summer has ruined us

I dont really get the notion that its ok as the window is open for 30 days.

We need players in before Leicester latest.

What will happen is the same as the summer, we will get closer to the deadline and be saying "i think we will get 1 in before the deadline" and then when we do we will make out it was a successful window.

There was reports of another Championship team bidding higher but that Cov was still his preferred destination. A connection with the scout on here @skybluegod reported it

This is only fun and not serious, although I wish it was.

Leicester having trouble finding cash to make James' transfer permenant, a £10m offer could get him to us, Then Hughes from Hull, Boro are meant to be interested and again if we offered £15m maybe could get him. Lastly, Léo Scienza from Saints, FL loves him, we offer £15m. There you have it, 3 quality signing who would get us promoted.

It wouldn't surprise me but what Middlesbrough really need is a couple of goals scorers to support Whittaker.

Exactly the same happened in the summer, except there was the added line "well be more grateful he bought the stadium"

They are what I like to call... bootlickers

I do understand the argument that we don't need a striker as we have Simms scoring, Haji & BTA to come back but Lampard has already tried to sign one.

If he thinks that another striker is key to finishing the job then he should be given what he wants because we're not likely to be in this position again for a very very long time.

Middlesbro owner is trying to bring in a few 'stars' because he intends selling Hackney, so it possbly isn't that great.

Sorry, but it’s not bed wetting is it really?

As I mentioned earlier in the thread the club has had time to proactively prepare for the moment the window opened. Deals can still be agreed outside the transfer window and if they had targets then I’d be keen to understand why couldn’t secure them ready for Jan 1st.

Lampard knows, and has mentioned several times since the beginning of the season, that we have small squad and injuries take its toll, so then surely the club knows what the manager needs, prepare and get it ready for when the window opens and help out the team(?).

To me what it looks like is a mixture of one or two things, either a reluctance to spend money and wait on the availability of loan players from Premier League sides (likely) or players that they are trying to secure are looking at different moves, but without understanding which players the clubs looking at, and with how the leaks have tightened up we won’t know the answer to this.

My fear if Lampard is not backed this window with players quickly and with the quality he needs, is that this will impact on him staying at the club longer term as he will lose trust in King to back him when the chips are down.

Can appreciate the need for patience, but I would argue that with we knew when the window closed where we were short and what needed depth. To have not had something ready to go, see Birmingham as an example.

Without context it’s very hard to judge but on the face of it disappointing.

They aren’t going to sell Hackney in Jan when they have a good chance of promotion. Their owner is looking to back them after the strong position they are in, fair play.

That’s my fear as well.

Say West Ham do get relegated and sack Nuno, an academy graduate Lampard in charge at West Ham with cash could be a viable alternative.

Money talks and so do players. They won't sell him unless they have to, but Premier League teams do have all the aces.
