Im not wound up. Im not ready to burst. Just saying it how I see it. Were 5 short. 3 of which from the summer. 2-3 now. Had we not been short in the summer, we wouldn't be so light now. We are. Realistically we need 5 or 6. Reality is we'll be lucky to get 3. I will happily eat my own words if we bring in 5 or 6 before deadline day. However, im confident I wont have to as I think we'll be lucky to get 3 over the line.

Will that be enough? I hope so, and it should be. Weve already got a good team, were heavily lacking on a good squad though and have done since day 1 of the 2024/25 season ending.

We don’t need 5 or 6! Calm down!

Exactly. Take a punt on higher wages, knowing youre saving on the transfer fee. Its almost like he's robbing Peter to pay Paul. Didn't want to pay Bamfords wages, knowing full well any new signing will demand a fee AND still need wages. And if he thinks paying Paddy Bamford £40k a week is too steep, id fucking hate to see what sort of signings we can get in the PL when we're only willing to pay peanuts in wages to players.

Difference being premier league offers £200mil in tv and prize money. Therefore making it a lot easier to afford higher wages. I am glad we arent paying £40k per week in the championship

The last thing we want to do is panic. We could do with two or three quality signings, but it would be stupid to just sign five or six players that are not going to get us over the line because they are either shit or the wrong kind of players. I would share the bedwetting sentiment in three weeks should we have signed no one, but we are five days in. Give them a chance to get it sorted.

Boro have just signed a centre half that they are raving about.
Apparently VVD esque on Sunday. Every post I saw said how good he was.
Malanda! Was quality watched their game and looked a great buy, he did cost them around 6million I think so can fairly quickly rule Charlie Hughes out, unless they’re really going to go for it.

OK! I wasn't joking about them playing probably the best CM in the division on the wing constantly. Youre right.

If you say so, most would thing you overreacted as you have been doing all day.

Still each to their own.

I think it’s less about numbers and more about what the squad needs. We need a CM, Winger and a Striker (admittedly the latter is tricky to find).

Haji a major concern for me. He looks totally void of confidence added to a bit healthy competition and depth. I accept it’s the most dangerous position in the market with the money involved, but if an opportunity arises we should consider it.
Simms is in good goal scoring form and Wright can be benched for a while. BTA to come back too. It’s not a priority for me.

Yeah my other two I would put above it, but I stand by that’s an area that needs improvement. BTA is going to take some time to come back and I think having only either Wright or Simms to come on limits our options from the bench.

He'd be great but can't see it happening at all

Remember him saying when we sold him that he would play for us again one day. I actually remember his debut.

Anyway, it would be a no from me. Too injury prone.

Simms only has purple patches, it'll end sooner or later. Not a chance he'd keeps up this form for the entirety of the run in. The only positive is BTA coming back. But if im being completely honest, id rather him at No10 for Rudi or on the right for Saka more than up front (unless of course we strengthen both these positions in January of course). But as it stands, here and now, we need his energy behind the striker, not as the striker. Which leaves us a horribly out of form Wright, and a soon to lose form Simms. Both lose form quicker than they find it. Just hopefully Wright has found his again by the time Simms loses his.

Guarantee he'd hobble off on his debut not to be seen again

My take on Simms is that whilst he has recently improved on retaining possession from a ball out of the back it's still not a strength. That should be a basic requirement.
