Been saying this on various threads for weeks now this close season is going to be very different new contracts are going to be reduced significantly and we ain’t seen nothing yet this seasons budgets are based on last years accounts the worst is yet to come next year so called “top” end clubs Bristol City, Stoke, Blackburn, Forest, Derby all fancied for promotion last season down amongst “the others” I believe our division has levelled out which could be good for us because of Robins/Viveash

He’s got a point though, Jones isn’t proven in the league below let alone this one, Burroughs and Eccles whilst appearing talented are still someway off being championship ready.

that being said we’ll be ok, still 3 weeks until first friendly. We’ll Have 2 or 3 in by then

I don't think there will be at all, I think finances again will be impacted. I am also not fearful of Hull, P'boro or Blackpool who have come up.

I agree there is work to do. But we will do it. People have doubted every summer that we will do what we need to do. Well the results show we have season after season. I have no reason to doubt that Boddy, Badlan, Robins and Co are working hard to make us better again from last season.

Definitely not time to panic on the lack of signings front. We know we were in for Collins and Paterson, two players who would improve the squad, and the starting XI in the case of Paterson. We also know we’ve reached out re Gilmour. All signs of positive intent.

We also heard from Boddy directly that things are happening.

Plus we are fairly sure Sheaf and Dinanga have signed.

And it’s the Euros so it’ll slow things down.

And overall it’s a very different market this year and more of a buyers one, which may have an impact on players speed in agreeing terms.

Yep
Keep calm and carry on
The club are in an infinitely stronger position than in recent years in terms of attractiveness to incoming players
We often announce things well after everything has been agreed
I don't have any inside info but I feel confident that things will be ok

I agree with you HDW.

I also agree with CDK on that Grendel character. He's both amazingly negative (only truly happy if he's mocking one of our players - great support) and 99% of his football opinions are just plain nonsense (taxi for Robins 4 years in a row).....there's really no need for anyone to listen to his stupidity to be honest.

Where are these bigger budgets coming from ? Football is almost bust financially and not a lot of light at the end of the tunnel. There was an agent on radio the other day saying contracts are 25/30% lower this time around and there’s worst to come next year once last seasons accounts get published

Stoke have already said they will continue to invest heavily in the squad and Bristol City have given Pearson hefty budget.

It’s only Derby really who look like they are in real trouble

We will see I see Bristol City or Stoke as nothing to fear and I believe budgets will level out. Stoke’s losses last season are through the roof let them add to it and don’t rule it out betting shop sponsorship names on shirts gets outlawed like booze and tobacco companies were, its been talked about we are now governed by the pc brigade, could present them with another problem and for us.

Stoke lost £18 m which is a fifth of the dividends the clubs owners made in dividends in the same year

Their debts have been listed at £90million and yes I know they have mega rich owners so maybe they will sugar daddy the club we will see.Now their parachute payments are no more they might have to.

Why do you not include the amortisation of the player contracts in your loss figure?

Because it’s not actual trading losses is it? Operational losses are really the elements that need funding not what is essentially asset depreciation which can be used as a strategy when required.

It’s odd they are frequently used as an example of what we could be like given their levels over the last 15 years compared to ours.

I'd consider the dealings with player contracts as trading operations. It's a big aspect of how every club operates now and stays sustainable. I'm a bit confused on your second point, are you suggesting that owners only fund the operational side of a club, and that all player trading is internally funded?

The amortisation of players contracts does not require loans to support cash flow is my point. As we’ve seen with Derby they can be used as a way to manipulate figures - also when the club have owners who are prepared to actively fund the club as a going concern and always have done where is the risk?

Stokes owners do provide loans - at zero rates of interest - another telling factor

Constantly going on about wanting owners to spend beyond the club’s means. You’re a fucking parody. “Where is the risk?”. The risk is when they get bored of it and you’ve got a completely unsustainable business.

The Derby situation will become much clearer in the next couple of weeks. The EFL are due to publish their findings/punishment. Additionally Gary Cook who led the Man City takeover deal is fronting a new bid from an American consortium to buy Derby.
Both those situations will have a major impact on their finances .... along with the settlement for Richard Keogh

Transfers will begin kicking off when pre season starts. Aren’t people on Furlough at the moment? Aren’t there restrictions in furloughing new employees? Makes sense for the club to delay signings until pre season starts.

Reading the wycombe board they seem pretty confident that Derby with be given thir points deduction on last seasons league which will mean Derby go down and Wycombe stay up. The EFL rules seem to confirm this unless the EFL bottle it.

If Derby went down and Wycombe stay it can only be a good thing for us given their budget and our history against them

I thought that but the EFL appealed a decision where points were deducted for last season and they won that appeal so I assume the punishment given will stand. I get the feeling whichever way it goes the winners will be the lawyers,

Exactly, any points deduction, meaning relegation will almost certainly result in Derby heading to the Courts, which could be really problematic for the start of the upcoming season. The simplest solution for the EFL would be for any points deduction to apply next season, which I therefore think is the likeliest outcome. Then its just a question of how many points.

Would be suprised if derby are relegated ,think it should happen but in the real world unlikely.
As for club's still spending loads think there won't be many .we will be ok next season additions to the squad, the likes of last season's squad are going to have last year's experience to build on plus academy youngsters ,we will be fine.
