What I meant by the comment was that you don’t want anyone else coming in, so you’d have also refused the asylum seeking family in question. Or have I misunderstood what ‘no more immigration at all’ meant?

Mixed tbh. I can see aspects of use, but in general growth encourages increase in costs and services, so people need more to pay for them and on it spirals.
I seem to remember that there was a lot of talk about India demanding visas at that point.So we need to keep importing hundreds of thousands of students a year to keep unis afloat and hundreds of thousands of workers to pay the pensions of the elderly and increasing welfare bill

I really don't want to make this political, but under that Tory rule which is clear what you mean having conveniently forgotten the 2008 recession under Labour, we've had a coalition government, Brexit and then a worldwide pandemic with huge furlough costs. If austerity hadn't taken place I think we'd be in a far worse position although neither of us can ever prove who is right on that. It’s certainly not black and white (or red and blue as you see everything).

I have no doubt about that, but at least get my position right before going on. I mean countless times in this thread and elsewhere, I’ve said what I think about the hotel problem, the trafficking across the Channel, and about immigration numbers and what I would do about them.
I haven’t forgotten anything. The fact is that since records began the longest period of sustained growth in UK history happened under Blair and I’m specifically talking about growth as a counter to your concerns about growth. I actually didn’t talk about anything else simply to stop it being political.
