    Philip Billing

We don’t need a holding midfielder when we have Sheaf, we need a someone who can operate between being a box-to-box midfielder as well as a deep-lying midfielder. Watching Torp today, he immediately looked more lively alongside Sheaf and I assume the same would be true for Eccles. Which is a...

Not 100% on JDS but Kitching absolutely. Thomas can consider himself unlucky because for all his bad distribution v Stoke, defensively I thought he was better than Binks. Binks is our youngest defender and feel he could develop into a top Championship / decent Prem CB. Atm, I feel like he’s our...

    DOUG ….don’t be so greedy

Unless it’s a big draw, I don’t think anyone cares about that competition until the latter stages. The games being midweek and so early in the season doesn’t help because If they kept it, they should trim it down to Championship and Premiership clubs because the L1 & L2 have the JPT (whatever...

I know the contexts are different and it’s not a 100% fair comparison… it is interesting that we kept 2 clean sheets with Thomas and Kitching in the same fixtures Lati and Binks conceded 3 goals. It must certainly be food for thought with Robins.

    DOUG ….don’t be so greedy

From an attendance POV, drawing Oxford at home was possibly the worst possible draw. Complete lack of interest in the fixture because we’d just played. Oxford away I reckon would’ve been a good crowd, although I was shocked at how bad Oxford’s away following was tonight. Personally, I’d scrap...

We look twice the team with Sheaf on the pitch. Another player on that level and we’re strong contenders. EMC looks a lot more involved now and even Torp has been a bit better too.

    Summer transfer window 2024

I don't get the hate for this person, if someone wants to lift rumours from this forum and copy & paste it on Twitter, who cares? My annoyance with this tweet is that is meaningless and stating the obvious. I have no intel at the club (even if I did, wouldn't spout it on forums or social...

    Summer transfer window 2024

In fairness with Torp, his induction to English football could’ve been better. January was his preseason and he kept getting injured. Fast forward to this preseason, again, gets injured for most of it. Not ideal but doesn’t excuse the disappointing start. Either way, last season I felt you...

    Victor Torp

His position is CM so he hasn’t got that excuse. This idea that he’s an AM is a projection of where fans think he should be playing. Even the AV quote said ‘he’s between a 6 and an 8’. For the last 3-4 seasons, he’s played CM/DM more than AM. He needs to start performing and it hasn’t been a...

    Kasey Palmer

The numbers don’t like on this one and come the end of the season I’m certain we won’t renew his contract. Agreed on that. Getting that next number 6/8 type player will really lift our team and I just can’t see us not getting someone in before the window. The midfield has looked below par in...

    Kasey Palmer

The point here is that we haven’t recruited in midfield - that was my point last year. In 22/23 we had Hamer and all his goal contributions and we’ve still not replaced that. So far, I’be not been impressed with Allen, Torp or Eccles. We’ve looked open in every game and frankly, we need more...

No, they obviously do but I’m sceptical that he’ll maintain his form. In fact, I don’t think we’ll renew his contract this summer.

    Ellis Simms

Lacked composure and should’ve done better but they were not gilt edged chance. We had one ‘big chance’ and I suspect that was the goal because it was the only shot in the box and actually on target! At the death, BTA should’ve done better but it was still a tough, low probability chance. As...

    Kasey Palmer

Both against his former team where he had a point to prove after he gets stuck from their fans. Let’s see how he gets on in the coming matches. He’s 28 and hasn’t really had a stand out season so I’m not holding my breathe on him producing 10 goals or assists this season.

    Midfield

Yes, the end of last season was a disappointment but we had a tough run in and it was clear that our lack of depth meant players were exhausted. It is bedwetting because we’ve only lost one game this season. If it was 10 games in and everything was patchy, the I’d be more sympathetic!

Robins & His Band Of Merry Men

Madness to come out with this just 4 games into the season. Our record for this season is 2 wins, a draw and a loss in 4 games. It’s not even like we’ve got to a stinker like Luton who’ve picked up just 1 point.

4 points in 3 games isn’t exactly a slow start, we’re 8th. A win against Norwich next week and the narrative changes completely. We’re missing Sheaf too with another 1 or 2 players to be signed before deadline day. I’m not too concerned with the 1st v 2nd half performances, most sports and...

    Midfield

We will get another midfielder in, as you say we missed out on Browne and also Stamenic. Two players who’d be expensive wage-wise and in the latter’s case, a sizeable transfer fee. The midfield and defence isn’t looking great atm.
  19. Mucca Mad Boys

    Victor Torp

It was Eccles who gave the ball away more in the first half. Nonetheless you’re right to point out that Torp wasn’t great. We need Sheaf back and a CM signing by deadline day!

A due respect to the players we have currently, we’ve not improved the midfield since Hamer left. Without Sheaf in the mix we look a shadow of ourselves!
