It's one of the most obvious time-wasting tactics for inferior opposition. If anyone remembers Chris Anderson, his book has a whole section on this, and how Stoke used it to survive in the PL. You basically compete with better teams by playing as little football as possible.
Apparently I'm in the minority, but I thought it was never a red card. He didn't intend to hurt him (or "endanger" him or whatever), he just wanted to trip him, which he did. Nuclear meltdown on here if it had happened to one of our players.
Were people expecting the Birmingham fans to be laying booby traps for us at St Andrew's when we were there or something? I only went to one home game that season, and fair play to The Roost for capitalizing on having another set of fans to drink there, but I don't remember it being red carpet...
Fair play to the WTA for actually standing up for the athlete and saying they’ll pull out of China if they don’t investigate her claims. About time a league actually did the right thing for a change.
It can be true that Rooney is both doing better than expected at Derby, and that he was a baffling appointment for them - there’s no way he was the right man for such a basket case of a job.
Ann is such a brilliantly curmudgeonly bloke
Amazed we lost a game with Tavares in the side - did no-one tell him to do the thing where he runs really fast?
So they magically forget how to play together if they both come on as subs?
They’ve played together plenty of times and looked good. Today wasn’t one of them. But there were other problems elsewhere on the pitch behind that.
He was very good, but if he wasn’t tired or injured, why bring him off?
Since he took that hit at Blackburn we’ve had to sub him almost every game - it risks painting us into a corner, like what happened today. We’re a much more dangerous side when he’s playing at full tilt, getting him to 100%...
Gyokeres needs a rest. Showed what he’s capable of today, but he’s not quite what he was, and if we have to haul him off after an hour anyway, it might be better to rest him for a game (or two) to get him up to full fitness.
I am shocked, shocked I tell you, that a midfield pairing of Allen and Kelly wasn’t able to dominate the midfield in the last 10/15 minutes of the game. I understand why you’d take Hamer off, but we didn’t really compete after that.
