Right who's the next manager then?

The case for hiring him would be based on his time at Brentford (we all know the model lol) and Villa (getting an expensively-assembled side firing mid-season). His experience at the lower end of the PL would presumably be an asset too. Only problem is most of his good days are about six years ago…

I’d take Smith over any of the bookies current top 5. Got plenty of experience in taking Championship sides up a level.

It’s all besides the point anyway - the only reason this healthcare is being described as “private” is because it’s a shortcut to get people to assume asylum seekers are getting (as one person in this thread put it) “five star treatment”. Sounds like that’s just spin but there we are. The issue...

You’re mistaking something that has the appearance/trappings of a private sector service for an actual private sector service. If it’s Stagecoach who are arranging when and where the taxi shows up and travels to, and you don’t have any say in the matter, then you’re using public transport...

Exercising a choice is not the definition of private health care, but all private health care does have to be exercised by choice…that’s how the private sector works.

Well exactly. And if Stagecoach shows up at the bus stop with a four door hatchback instead of a bus, are you using public or private transport?

How can it be private healthcare if you don’t choose it? If I buy myself a Routemaster bus off eBay and drive myself to work in it every morning, that doesn’t mean I’m using public transport.

Perhaps a better word would be “facilitated” then. The idea that these asylum seekers went out into the private sector marketplace and independently chose their own healthcare provider is obviously ridiculous. They got what the state gave them. The state paid for it.

Healthcare that’s paid for and provided by the state is very much not the definition of private healthcare.

Matt Gaetz being nominated for Attorney General is deeply unserious behaviour.

So any service the NHS provides that involves the NHS paying a third party is “effectively” private healthcare?

Thought he did alright in that first season in the Championship myself, in a season where few players really stood out. The injuries seemed to completely torpedo his career but I’ll always have a soft spot for him thanks to that title-winning season - irrational, maybe, but it’s football innit.

Yeah, say what you want about Musk’s political views or his methods, he clearly has relevant experience and skills in the job he’s being asked to do. The nominee for Defense Secretary however…

Two rubbish seasons out of four is a pretty fair assessment, albeit a slightly unconventional way to describe “the majority of his time”.

Not fully convinced in the event of WW3 that a Fox News host will be able to outmanoeuvre the generals running China’s military-industrial complex, but hopefully it doesn’t come to that.
