    Dean Austin position untenable

He took a Director of Football job at Blackpool (still in the Championship at the time) and took one of his top scouts with him.

    Dean Austin position untenable

I think the sooner people accept that the Wolves and Man United games were aberrations, the quicker we can get serious about who belongs at this club. The rest of the cup run tells us next to nothing about this team’s quality.

    Dean Austin position untenable

If the head of recruitment brings in players who take the team to a higher level and/or get sold on for a profit then you can safely say they’ve done a good job. By those metrics Badlan was better than anyone we’ve ever had. Not sure how else you’d want to rate him?

    the issues

He was just coming back from an injury that had seen him miss a fair whack of pre-season. EMC doesn’t get to start at LW under either Robins or Lampard if Wright was fully fit.

Wright was injured at the start of the season.

Two points of order: 1 - the quality of players in this current squad most definitely is on Robins 2 - the whole point of replacing Robins is the belief that another manager can get better results from the same set of players. If Lampard can’t do that, then that’s definitely on him

    Rudoni …?

Feels like we used to do it quite a lot!

I think my expectations are higher than yours. This should be about getting value for money out of an underperforming squad, not a salvage operation.

What is there to suggest Lampard is good?

Because it was Robins who built the team. Slag off Austin and Doug King all you like (I certainly have), but it's the manager who ultimately takes responsibility for the team's performances, and ours have not been good enough.

    Rudoni …?

I think Rudoni has a really good cross on him (especially from a set-piece) and that's basically the only thing I'd say he does better than O'Hare. He's younger than COH of course (the same age as O'Hare was during our first season back in the Championship) but there's no question who the...

I think the decision to make a change was justified. The decision to bring in someone who's playing the same system, but slower, seems like a very strange move.

    What's up with Ben Sheaf?

I can only assume he was denied a move in the summer and it's gone downhill from there. He's droppable at this point, but I have a feeling that he will be close with Lampard.

I don't disagree, but you have to believe a new manager could make a difference. Otherwise why make the change?

I'm sorry, but I'm yet to see this team do a single thing better under Lampard. It's the same formation, the same personnel, in the same positions, making the same mistakes. We definitely play a lot slower and safer when we're on the ball (be still my beating heart). But we're hopeless...
