    Our progress

Robins’ brief last season was to compete for the playoffs, not to outperform Chris Coleman.

OK, five months then - unfortunately the league campaign lasts quite a bit longer than that.

    Our progress

The team you posted above wasn’t capable of putting together consistent form for more than those three months around Christmas. And today’s squad and starting XI is weaker. The predictions for success this season were all based on the idea that all the good performances last year counted for...

If you’re a coach during the warmup and you’re not moving around like this then don’t even bother showing up for work on Monday

Slagging off a coach for not being involved enough in a pre-match warmup is ridiculous man.

    Dean Austin position untenable

I’d struggle to call Westbrooke a bad signing - joined on a free, played 25 times for a team that won the league, sold on for a profit. Would love a bad signing like that tbh.

Sorry, I find that quite difficult to believe. Slagging off the team warmups is a new one - we just need to win some games as we’re clearly running out of things to target.

I think the idea that anyone on this forum knows how individual coaches should be working in a pre-match warmup in a Championship game is pretty silly.

I’m not really fussed about his career trajectory since, his track record with us speaks for itself. Two promotions and a Championship play-off final off the back of his signings means the rose-tinted glasses are both crimson red and well-earned imo. Bouwe Bosma was pretty far from my thoughts...

Surely the whole point of a recruitment chief is to make outstanding signings? In Badlan’s case, those two outstanding signings* completely transformed the club’s fortunes in a way that no other head of recruitment seems capable of matching. *(I would argue he made more than two but yeah)

I wouldn’t get too hung up on the definition of “friend” (vs “associate” etc) but clearly Robins had extensive personal dealings with him in the past and thought exceptionally highly of him. If you’re looking for an explanation of why Austin got the job then that seems fairly straightforward.

King wouldn’t have been able to have any formal input. Presumably Robins (quite reasonably) let the club management know that we needed someone to replace Badlan in time for the January window, whoever the owner was.
