Match Thread Lincoln City - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 18th Nov

What a great bit of news on an otherwise dismal weekend in the Flockhart household! I salute the travelling faithful, who deserve a few more cracking results like this.

    Anthony Andreu

Sorry to hear about your woes CJ, it must be horrible. But it’s unduly pessimistic to say that very few recover fully – in the old days that was true, but most professionals seem to come back fine from ACL now, although it can take a long time. Theo Walcott springs to mind – didn’t he say that...

    Badges

There is indeed a badge seller in the place mentioned Tommo. But if it's important to you and for some reason you can't get hold of one, I've found one you can have. Small oval badge, about an inch wide and half an inch high, England cross on the left, CCFC on the right. The pin's slightly...

Put toBed Once and for all then

Leaving aside the arguments about the SISU/CCFC relationship, the issued statemenrt does seem like a strangely specific denial of contact. Almost like saying, OK this guy may have had dialogue with people connected with the club, but as he hasn’t formally or specifically approached SISU Capital...

    JR appeal

I've liked your post, but I don't like it if you know what I mean :( I take it we're looking at October 2018 then, FFS. Might be pushing up the daisies by then!

    JR appeal

Genuinely, could somebody please clarify this? I don’t read more than a small proportion of what’s posted on the forum (CCFC despondency fatigue), and I’ve now seen a couple of references to having to wait a year for the next legal milestone. What’s that about?

    Anthony Andreu

Would like to see him back as soon as possible, but I guess with that kind of injury it's not likely this season. One of the few "proper footballers" we have, and I agree with Robins that he's a big miss - I'm sure we'd be a lot more creative if he was in the team. As it is, there's far too...

    Telegraph - Coventry City indigestible

"goalkeeper Steve Ogrizovic became an unlikely goal hero. ... From a goal-kick, he punted the ball out of his hands" I don't normally go in for bashing the local journalists, but this is just embarrassing. Can't possibly know the first thing about football. Digest: On the day Oggy scored THAT...

    Player Ratings

Weren't his problems last season related to his back? If so, returning to full mobility can take a very long time (if it happens at all). He certainly doesn't seem to be the player of a couple of years ago, who would have really stood out in this league.

    Best defence since?

Agreed, he was class - the problem was he was never fit :(

    Best defence since?

So we’re in a crap league, there’s not much pace, the shooting’s rubbish and people can’t cross a ball. But we’ve only conceded 6 in 12 games, which is a rare cause for optimism in these bleak years. If the defence can keep that up it gives us the platform for promotion, and I’d take that...

    Best defence since?

Completely agree BackRoom, and I'm not seriously comparing the guys we have now with the old legends. But they can't do any more than keep clean sheets in the league they're playing in can they?

    Best defence since?

An incredible defensive record so far this season, albeit in the fourth division. Which are the best Sky Blues defensive line-ups people can remember? A few which stand out in my mind would be: - Glazier, Smith, Blockley, Barry or Parker, Cattlin - Blyth, Thomas, Dyson, Gillespie...

Match Thread Coventry City - Carlisle United Match Thread - Tuesday 12th Sep

Agree with that - Andreu looked like the best footballer in the squad (too good for League 2 IMO), so he will be a big miss.

The period between Jimmy Hill and Gordon Milne....

Ah, Steve Whitton isn’t a name that crops up much. Not an outstanding player, but surely nobody has ever hit the ball harder in the history of the game. It’s a wonder the ball didn’t burst!

Transfer Rumour Tom Davies - Pompey

I know what you mean :) But the opening period last night was desperately bad, and for the first time in all my years not even up to Football League standard IMO. We were getting played off the park by Shrewsbury. I looked around at that empty stadium and the clueless rubbish being served up...

Transfer Rumour Tom Davies - Pompey

Fully agree with that. Andreu is the best footballer in the squad, and we need to play a system where he gets the ball as often as possible. That first half was truly non-League standard, and the worst City performance I’ve seen in over 50 years. The long balls gave the forwards no chance –...

    Lucky garments

Nearly boiled at Wembley on that lovely day in May 87, secretly wearing the lucky thermal top from the 3rd round in January! It was worth it of course, how else were we going to win? Still got it somewhere I think, maybe it should get another run-out.

    Lucky garments

Well, a pair of lucky sky blue pants lost their unbeaten 12-game run yesterday. The question is – should I stay loyal and give them another chance for the next match (especially as they delivered a trophy last season), or be ruthless and bring in a different pair to replace them? Almost...
