Be honest though. It’s pretty lame corruption “oh I borrowed some money then paid it back for wallpaper”, hardly Netanyahu level is it?

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

With you all the way until the last sentence. PR is a wild goose chase: you’ve got to win under FPTP first and voters couldn’t give a shit about it. Open selection would just turbo charge all the internal bollocks that holds Labour back. If anything we need more central management of candidates...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

They have their most charismatic leader since Thatcher who has delivered two of the biggest voter priorities with huge approval ratings in two years. I cannot state enough just how unprecedented this is in politics. We are very much in “I could shoot someone in Times Square” territory.

The year 2001 called and it wants a word about the public perception of the Tories.

But we still lost. When it should’ve been easier to win. If Corbyn couldn’t win under those conditions we should’ve realised he’d never win.

Bit of reality needed here too. 2017 was a Brexit election where half the country gave us their vote by default and we ran against the worst Tory GE campaign in living memory and still lost.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

A bit of perspective here. 2015 was the first GE the Tories had won in more than 20 years. Post Brexit the entire country has been split almost exactly down the middle and the difference is mostly down to leaders and splitting of the vote. In normal electoral times we’d be here just after the...

Sort of. They were doing it 2015-2017 to no effect. It was only after the Skripol stuff when Corbyn went mental and started defending Russia that the public mood on him changed.

Lots of people think that though about people slightly worse off than them. You’ve got to believe it’s a moral failing because then you not having to do it is a moral virtue. It’s why the “scrounger” stuff plays so well. I’ve got a mate who smokes an eighth a day and won’t vote Labour because...

I actually think Jess Phillips would do OK. At least she comes off as pretty normal. Plus the meltdowns from both far right and far left Twitter would be glorious to behold.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

The only thing I’m holding on to is the hope that there’s some kind of critical mass of left wing people fucked off with the screaming children that are the modern online left and we have some kind of Kinnock V Militant scenario where they all get kicked out or shut up, can’t see it though...

Doesn’t matter. Post expenses scandal “they’re all as bad as each other”. The “justification” is “of the two serious possibilities they’re the one that doesn’t seem to think I’m a c**t” People don’t read manifestos or Twitter news threads they take a gut feel about a party/leader.

You fundamentally misunderstand people. No one likes people more because they’re right or perfect, they like people who seem to like them and for many years Labour havent.
