in most press about 60m being offered https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.cityam.com/andy-burnham-turns-down-60m-in-tier-3-funding-for-manchester/amp/ ps they’ll get that anyway. It’s all just politics bollocks from both sides

my understanding from what I’ve read, gov said you’re going into tier 3 and heres the support packaging similar to Liverpool, AB rejected saying he won’t support unless they get more, gov concerned that without local mayor support lockdown won’t be enforced/adhered to, continued negotiations...

Dont know the detail. Would be surprised if they don’t end up getting the same package as elsewhere (Liverpool etc)

Think it’s getting additional support for businesses (grants etc.) for those that have to close - which should be being provided

Yeah, no doubt they’ll be increasing everywhere. Its gaging capacity. I think Burnham was indicating there wasn’t an immediate capacity issue (whilst the government was)....if there was as NW says fannying around for a week ‘negotiating’ wasn’t in anyone’s interests. I don’t know who’s right.

They turned down more apparently. I quite like Burnham and he’s right to stand up for Manchester, however, he’s been all over the shop over the past few days. The way I read it, he was happy for the whole country to be lockdown down but not for Manchester to go into Tier three and has then...

the economy - what is going on?

Yeah, strange times Clint. Economy and in particular the property market is being artificially inflated by furlough scheme and stamp duty cut (and initially pent up demand from lockdown) Gut feel is end of this year/early next there will be a dip in property market once all the likely...

100% it should be localised and think it’s heading in that direction. Sure one of the greater Manc locations undertook more localised track and trace at very start of second wave. At worst they should be working closely in conjunction

Good point....appreciate it would very much be a limp as well !!! People are putting this a straight economy v health decision. It’s not, it’s massively complex and as I’ve alluded to before it’s protecting the elderly (100% justifiable) but the cost in short and long term is likely to be borne...

Had a little dig around and got the answers to one of my questions so thought I’d share. It will push the virus back 28 days if it’s well adhered to - still not sure about how this would work with Unis though ‘While the experts said the circuit breaker could push the epidemic back 28 days if it...

I did say I’m not blaming Sage and obviously opinions/views change over time, however, I do think they will be extra cautious from now on due to mistakes made earlier on. It’s relatively easy for them (and others) to say ‘lockdown’, they won’t be picking up the pieces ps I’d also prefer a 2-3...

Spot on NW, to be fair I think he’s saying if it’s done quick it will coincide with half term. I’m all for Starmer putting forward an alternative plan and as this is what Sage appears to have advised (and what still might actually happen), he can’t really lose, however, and this isn’t me being...

Yeah, I think I mentioned yesterday that I’d seen a 2/3 to 1/3 polling split on wanting stricter measures. I’d imagine some of this relates to personal (and family) risk, age and potentially even to job security though. For example I wonder if the pollsters asked those wanting a stricter...

Cant disagree with a lot of that mate. But you can see on here how the country is divided...some want stricter lockdown, otherwise want to best protect those most at risk and everyone else get on with life. Massive balancing act but as you say it’s important that people understand what the...

I honestly think that’s all it can be Pete ie manage NHS capacity, unless they know some kind of vaccine (and/or better treatments) is on its way so minimising impact until then.

I agree NW, a closure of unis (and to some extent schools - I think most schools will be breaking up this/next week anyway) would probably reduce rates far quicker than the new measures, but Id also imagine as soon as they reopen they’ll be another spike. Also, with unis you’ve got the problem...

Agreed SBD. I might be wrong but I thought this was based on cases per 100k. Problem is Bham is on 160 and Manc is on 500+ and yet both in same tier, which indicates other parameters should be considered (as you suggest something like hospital capacity) The bigger issue for me is robust...

I can definitely see disobedience of measures/new measures as I’ve said before. Already seeing it. Everyone bought into first lockdown but are struggling to this time
