The green green grass of home

After the game, I would walk to Broadgate on my way home to Radford, and would buy the pink ‘un. How did they do that?

The green green grass of home

I remember that shop H. I used to go in there after the games, buy a gob stopper. I remember a game against Newcastle in the FA Cup, 1967. We lost 4-3, a great game, big Geordie turn out, superb atmosphere. I went in the shop afterwards, must have looked sad, as a Newcastle fan said to me...

Match Thread Coventry City at Forest Green Rovers Match Thread - Saturday 3rd Feb

Do you not think that we got the lucky breaks against Swindon and Cambridge? To be fair, at least they dug in, it was backs to the wall.

Davies also out for the season

We don’t get a lot of luck injury wise, it has to be said. He will be a miss.

    The lack of consistency

Been an interesting joust between Nick and Grendel, I think you’re both right. We don’t dominate possession and don’t create sufficient chances for our strikers. At the same time, although Biamou works hard, he isn’t particularly mobile, probably won’t score enough goals, and doesn’t really...

    The lack of consistency

You’ve mentioned this before Otis, and you’re right. Is it about our overall ability? We’re just not good enough to go on the type of run we would like to see. It could look worse, on the match thread I’ve said that we rode our luck against Swindon and Cambridge. Our performance over the season...

Match Thread Coventry City at Forest Green Rovers Match Thread - Saturday 3rd Feb

You’re right, some of our fans think because we’re in league 2, we only have to turn up to win. None of these teams roll over for the mighty Sky Blues, and to be fair, we rode our luck against Swindon and Cambridge, so perhaps this was coming. We’re not going to walk this league, teams are well...

    So where were you all?

Good on you Stan - keep up the good work!!

This manager and team deserve backing

Spot on Tony, at this moment in time, SISU are almost irrelevant, it’s about getting behind those boys in Sky Blue who are giving everything for the shirt.

I think you’re right Grendel, although I’m more disappointed than embarrassed.

Match Thread Coventry City vs Cambridge United Match Thread - Tuesday 30th Jan

The team deserve a far better attendance than this. We are a league 2 team, but with a big urban population. Let’s say, unbelievably, that we had drawn Man City away in the FA Cup, and had forced a draw, bringing them back to the Ricoh for a midweek replay.Somehow I think all the ‘reasons’ why...

    Name a club

I’d go with those teams Oucho, although even some of them have a greater history than ours( Wolves, perhaps Sunderland) and this does have an effect, in terms of a greater reservoir of ‘traditional’ fans.

    The referee

I actually thought the ref for the Swindon game was also very good, let the game flow, by not blowing his whistle too much.

    Well done Biamou

    Hahahahahahahaha!

    Nazon

No I don’t remember that! My memory is that for most of the season he didn’t pass when he should have done. Then in his last couple of games (excluding the Carlisle fiasco) he started to pass to better placed team mates, but the view is that MR had pointed out the error of his ways to him.

MK Dons - Ticket Sales Thread

Sorry for late reply, but I was at that game in the Wolves main stand. I hated it when Oggy got sent off, all the people around me were on their feet cheering and laughing, they were all respectable looking middle aged people for the most part, and at the time, naively, I was quite shocked at...

    tonights games

Yes, I agree, they did a great job in avoiding relegation last year, and have continued this season. All they do is play to their strengths. In addition, any league 2 team that turns over Leeds are ok by me. I expect us to have a very tough game there.

    Big Cyrille

Yes you’re right, October 1985, in the league cup.

    Big Cyrille

I didn’t realise that Cyrille’s last club was Chester City, where he scored 10 goals in his last season. I was staying near Chester over the weekend, and there was an excellent two page spread in the local paper. He was a hero to their fans. I seem to remember that we sent Chester one of our...
