The hatred towards two players who have barely played is insane.

I’m not sure. It’s a public forum. We lost a poster because of the trans right stuff which is sad, but ultimately I’d rather have the debate, ideally in a way that everyone feels they can participate.

Personal hobby horse: he said hate speech, not hate crime. I’m not 100% sure we have hate speech laws in this country. Hate crime is a modifier on sentencing when committing a crime with a motivation of hatred towards a protected group.

I can get offended by all sorts of crap. Whenever @rob9872 talks about teachers for a start. I’m just not sure the state needs to step in.

Maybe play someone other than Godden for a game so we can find out how good they are? Godden can still come on if you want. I don’t understand why he has to play every minute of every game.

    Ellis Simms Going Forward

Don’t think MvE is made for a central role at all. Hamer fair enough to move from RWB to CM cos of his passing range. MvE’s best attribute is his pace and his ability to stick with his winger.

Only because there’s less planning issues. I’d imagine there’s a much lower ceiling on upgrading Victorian tech though.

I mean it was more an 8-1-1 most games, but close. Let’s be real here, we had an exceptional striker who you coukd literally lump the ball eleventy feet in the air to within a 20 yard radius and he’d turn it into something dangerous and a CM who ran games on his own frequently.

I worry that what underlies this is a rather puritanical judgement on what it is and isn’t OK to laugh at. That precludes an assumption that everyone processes grief, shock and disgust in the same way, which just isn’t true.

And that’s fine, no one will laugh and I’ll get valuable feedback on my comedy. But should not being funny be a crime?

This is the problem though. Were saying you can only tell jokes if you’re good at it? If I follow a disabled kid around making disabled jokes that’s clearly a crime. If I make a misjudged joke about a national news incident like Grenfell or an arsonist killer or a killer doctor or whatever, I...

I would argue the £35m of talent we just lost had a little to do with it.

That’s a rather elitist view. Do you have a list of comedians it’s acceptable for people with an IQ above 100 to laugh at?

So for example NPR is a project to connect the North from Liverpool to Hull. A key part of it is the HS2 link between Manchester Airport and Manchester.
