    Away form

Clearly we need to make changes to the way we approach games when we’re away. Three of our 4 losses have come away, and we’ve not scored in 4 away games, compared to one at home. I don’t see it as a personnel issue, but more of a tactical one.

Plan B - Have we got one this year?

There’s plenty of time to fix this. All some strikers need is to just get that one goal before they go on a run of a few goals. You can see Biamou getting closer each game and McNulty is still producing for the team - he got a good assist for Ponticelli and won the penalty v Walsall. To...

Plan B - Have we got one this year?

We seem to struggle to break teams down who play with 3 centre halves. Whether this means we change shape to a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3, or even matching their 5-3-2, I don’t know. It’s also our away form letting us down atm. Everything else I am satisfied with.

    PONTICELLI

Using the exception to the rule to prove your point is deeply flawed. How many players are actually ready at 16? Rooney clearly was, but even the likes of Messi didn’t really shine till 19. Besides, these are either world class or potentially world class players. Ponticelli was signed as an...

    Kwame to Sutton

The flawless logic of putting a striker who struggled in non-league, ahead of strikers who are struggling in L2. McNulty also happens to have scored 3 goals...

    Biamou

Doyle’s comments about McNulty being the best finisher at the club are certainly interesting. In the long run, our dominant defence will pay off more than any 15-25 goal a season striker could.

    Best defence since?

He actually went on to do quite well after he left us didn’t he? Started for Middlesborough in the Championship when they got promoted! Sod’s Law strikes CCFC again!

    Best defence since?

I remember when we signed Dimitri Konstontopalis (spelling), I believe he got 21-22 clean sheets for Hartlepool, who were in League 2. However, I don’t know if that was in all competitions or not.

    Swindon Sending off Rescinded

Does anyone know what grounds was this overturned on? Their player has very clearly hit our player in the face. In most contact sports, that is a red card, provoked or unprovoked. A 4-match ban for dissent seems a bit heavy handed. But, something has got to be done about ‘lynch mobs’ protesting...

Match Thread Barnet - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 7th Oct

Team: Burge Grimmer Willis McDonald Stokes Kelly Doyle Jones McNulty DKE/Vincenti Biamou I think we’ll probably win by a goal or two, going for 2-0, and I think it’s Biamou’s turn to get on the scoresheet.

Video Highlights | Walsall 2-2 Coventry (City win on Penalties)

We clearly have several options, which will come in handy as the season progresses. But, for me, I think McNulty and Nazon will be the best pairing - whether McNulty plays in behind Nazon, or in front - with what we’ve got at the minute. Biamou, whilst he’s played well in the last 3 games, he...

We're walking this league: shots stats prove it

Why is anyone ‘concerned’ about anything? We’re 11 games in, we’re in some good form and there’s more good signs than bad ones. Take the season as it comes.

We're walking this league: shots stats prove it

Good early signs, but they exactly that. The defensive side of our game is second to none, conceding low amounts of shots, goals and keeping an impressive 7 clean sheets in 11. You couldn't ask for more. Attacking wise, we haven't been as good, but we've still done well minus a 3 game skid. I...

Match Thread Coventry City - Crewe Alexandra Match Thread - Saturday 30th Sep

Another win. Another clean sheet. With the defence as good as it is atm, I weren’t worried at 1-0 at any point. Was ill today so didn’t make it, on Gillette Soccer Saturday, Jeff Stelling mentioned we’ve only conceded one goal at home, that O’Brien mistake. What a brilliant defence we’ve got at...

Great to get an early goal. If it goes 1-0 at HT, I feel we could dick them 3 or 4-0.

    Willis - ball watching.

For what it’s worth, I do rate McDonald higher than Willis. Rod has more experience, and specifically experience in what it takes to win this league (so to do many of our summer signings). However, some of the comments directed are harsh on Willis, attributing blame to him for goals that weren’t...

    Willis - ball watching.

I don’t think he is ‘leagues’ ahead of him. I do think they compliment each other well. Willis still is ‘stained’ with his involvement with past City teams. I think that’s what attracts some hate. McDonald hasn’t been perfect, and neither Willis, but he and Willis clearly have a very good...

    Willis - ball watching.

Weird. If anything, I thought Rod looked like he was in ‘no man’s land’ for the Cambridge goal, their striker got in between both our centre halves so I thought they were equally to blame. As for that goal, I feel the analysis is harsh. The ball takes a deflection, and the striker finished...
