Your lot played well! Good luck the rest of the season! Whether with or without Lambert!

Biggest achievement, 87 Cup win or promotion ?

I weren’t around for the buzz of 1987, so for me promotion this year would be huge with everything that’s gone on the last 4-5 years! Can’t really compare the two!

I certainly won’t argue with that! If the team selection is as haphazard as you say, then it isn’t a surprise you lot are struggling right now. An old uni mate of mine supports Ipswich, said last week that Fleetwood and Coventry are ‘nail in the coffin’ games for Lambert. Hopefully, a Coventry...

From our own experiences, relegation presents a good opportunity to restructure things, just as Leicester, Southampton, Norwich and Leeds did. For us, relegation to L2 was that opportunity and thankfully we didn’t waste it like we had when Thorn took us into L1.

    Comparision Table last Nine Years

Agreed! The teams in the bottom 6 are often pretty dangerous at this point of the season - fighting tooth and nail to stay up. Tranmere, Rochdale and Wimbledon will be difficult games for a few teams. Your mid table sides with nothing to play for are often the best pickings.

With all of Ipswich’s injuries, I think Lambert could probably count himself a bit unlucky. That said, has he been successful anywhere since Norwich? Off the top of my head, I can’t really think of anywhere else he’s made a big impact.

I can see us and Pompey getting promoted automatically. Rotherham seem to be drawing a few too many games right now - it’s such a scrap up there because you can’t rule out Sunderland either. Every game really is a cup final for us for the rest of the season.

So, a Mid-table Finish for City and Wycombe

No they don’t. They’re away form is very patchy, and they’ve got 7 away games left from 11. Only 1 loss at home all season, 1 win (v Bolton) and 3 losses in their last 4 away. Lost 6 of their last 8 and only picking up 4 pts in the process. They need to sort their away form out! A lot of their...

Perhaps you’ll get the right personnel to play it next season with or without Lambert in charge! We tried 3-4-3 in League 2 and last season, if I recall correctly, and that didn’t work for us then. This season we were lead into playing 3-4-2-1 because all our wingers and strikers were injured...

Our manager was talking about promotion in pre-season, that was the ‘aim’. Without being Mark Robins, my guess would be that would be via playoffs. The likes of yourselves, Sunderland, Rotherham and Pompey (at least) all in seemingly stronger positions than ourselves, automatic promotions...

We tend to be v solid at the back and will rarely concede more than 1 goal. A good win for us is by a 2 goals against anyone really. Only putting Wycombe and Tranmere to the sword this season. We don’t blitz teams like Oxford, P’boro or Sunderland do. I’m expecting a tough game on Saturday...

What’s needed in the next 11 games?

Personally, my gut feeling is we’ll probably lose 1 game, and draw 3-4 games - winning the rest. Teams around us have lost a lot more than us, and a lot of teams still to play one another. We’ll win the league if we can get 21-23 more points from the run-in. 6 wins, 3 draws as a base...

    Counting chickens

12 games or so ago, Ipswich were 3pts ahead of us with a game in hand. It doesn’t take much for our fortunes to take a turn for the worse. That said, we’re in a very strong position at the minute.

Marquis? He’s scored 8 league goals. No chance!

    Sunderland fans crying "again"

That is a laughable comment because they didn’t create a clear cut chance all game. After Gooden’s goal, the next best chance was his breakthrough in the 2nd half. It was two evenly matched teams in quite an even game. But, we were defending a lead for over 90 minutes - we didn’t need to push...

    Sunderland fans crying "again"

Bit of a stretch for the presenter to say they were ‘the better team’ and ‘dominated possession’. He said himself they didn’t create much. The game was pretty even, as you’d expect from two evenly matched sides at the top of the table. We created the better chances, end of story for them.

Match Thread Coventry City vs. Sunderland Match Thread - Sunday 1st Mar

I went to the game with a neutral, and agreed we were the better team and Sunderland didn’t offer that much. Their best chance was the goal that was offside - he called the offside as soon as he seen it. We’re all a bit bias to our own team, but again, he felt like we had an obvious penalty...

    League one Friday/Saturday

It’s tight around us, a win vs Sunderland will be huge, even bigger than the Portsmouth win. However, all things considered, a draw wouldn’t be a bad result either. Even a loss wouldn’t be a disaster.
