It not always about cash-maximisation in short term. A lot of people confuse this. Players have career plans like the rest of us and that will involve playing at the highest level which invariably pays the most. Gyokeres forced a move to Lisbon rather than the Premier League because he backed...

It’s not capping it and it really would depend on where COH believes he can develop the most. Part of that will come down if MR can convince him we’re going to be seriously contending for promotion in the next two-three seasons. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, he had one really good game but...

I’m glad someone mentioned it. We’re still one of the most counter-attacking teams and in those phases, we’re very direct in our passing. I really liked the tactical idea of playing long balls in behind for Simms and Wright. It gives us an option we never really had when playing flaccidly side...

I don’t think so, he’s had a run of games and probably needs a rest. Considering we didn’t make any subs suggests our options weren’t at 100%. That, and Birmingham being an average team with a substandard manager.

Simms played well and was a focal point for us which we don’t really have. He needed a big chance and didn’t get one. I thought Allen played well but think it’s a good game to play Eccles and Sheaf. Had COH not had a stormer, I’d have leaned towards a 4-3-3.

    Recruitment has been shocking

Agreed, more generally we’ve focused our attention on players who are versatile which has allowed us to re-jig the shape and personnel when the 3-4-1-2 wasn’t working. We do need wingers, but I think a front 3 of Wright, Simms & Sakamoto could be quite potent.

    Recruitment has been shocking

When will people learn to be patient and not shit the bed at the first sign of trouble? Never, they never will.

I wonder what you would have said had Bidwell missed. Who would you have blamed then?

    Gyokeres Deal Details

I wish I had your insights. can you share with us what the players mental states of the players were in the moment or how they faired in training up to the game? Sounds awfully a lot like the people slating Southgate for picking Saka to take a pen in the Euros. Who was our 5th best in training...

    Gyokeres Deal Details

Your back up plans are Bidwell, McFadz and Wilson. Where this confidence in them come from? If we had a striker or attacking midfielder to hand, I’d understand your criticisms a bit more. My position is simple: I weren’t convinced any of our penalty takers past Gyokeres and Godden would score...

In the medium term, our recruitment strategy will prove to be shrewd. Lot of players adapting from overseas or from lower leagues and with more faces in, we’ll be in a very positive place.

    Gyokeres Deal Details

Yes Or, your confirmation bias… You don’t know why the people were saying ‘ffs’ or whatever. You’re assuming it was because of the taker. I can’t quite remember what I did, but I felt dejected after every Luton penalty because sooner or later someone was going to miss.

    Increasing the scope of var

Let’s agree to disagree. VAR is here to stay and it’s a question of improving it to the needs of our game. We both know that other sporting bodies will be consulted to see how they approach this side of the game. Concepts may or may not work, but at the least will be influential. Side note...

Yes because I don’t think a Championship player has been sold for more than £40-50 million. We could end up with approx £35m for Gyokeres when comparatively, Brentford sold Watkins (3 years on contract) for about £30m. The only way we were getting a better deal for Gyokeres was if we got...

You take a very short term opinion if you genuinely believe ‘it’s all gone pear shaped’. The expectations outlined by MR and DK is that it’s a 5 year plan. We’ve signed younger players who are contacted for the next 3-5 years. We’ve had to gut the team by 16-17 players if you include loanees...

    Gyokeres Deal Details

Misguided arrogance? He's a footballer putting himself forward for his team. Shit management? Where has this confidence in McFadz or Bidwell come from!? I am sure that penalties would've been practiced in the build up to that game, and I'm sure our lineup would have been fairly set - but we...

    Gyokeres Deal Details

Personally, after Gyokeres and Godden I felt like we were going to miss every penalty. In fact, I felt pretty nervous about Godden and Gyokeres too. When people say they ‘knew Dabo was going to miss’, I take it with a pinch of salt because they probably ‘knew’ the last few takers were going to...

    Limited Edition Hummel CCFC Trainers

I nearly bought a pair of stock Hummel trainers in this style - I think the sale price was £40. Personally, I like them and will buy a pair. Not sure why there’s such a reaction by some, most big clubs leverage their brand on all sorts of goods.

    Who takes the next penalty?

If Wright has a 90% record, it would make sense for him to step up next. 3 missed this year could get in his [Godden] head a bit. Perhaps he needs a little break from them so hoping the next penalty is awarded when he’s not on the pitch so he’s not been ‘demoted’ as such.
