Rooney is fired up for Friday night

To think people were jealous of Birmingham’s recruitment in the preseason hahaha

    The change of shape

Without getting carried away, looking at the competition around us, we really ought to finish in the playoffs by end of match day 46. That midfield area is crucial for us, good recruitment to get in some wingers and a CM or two and we should be well set.

    Empty seats

Similar situation here in Block 34. Personally, I think they ought to reduce the size of the family zone next season.

It is clear we've had to rotate players this Xmas period and we've done well but Allen doesn't look as assured at CM rather than at AM. Now we playing 4-2-3-1 that area of the pitch is still the number 1 priority.

He scored a gift of a goal and that was it really. I don't get some of the clamour to sign him on the match thread.

    The Forwards Conundrum

How many chances has he missed? If a striker isn't scoring but missing plenty of chances, that's one thing. If they have not many goals and not many chances, isn't that indicative the team around them could be doing better? Simms contributed nothing yet scored with his only touch of the match...

    Simms

Likewise, Godden didn't do anything and Wright looks ineffective when he plays centrally too. So it seems the common denominator is the position not the players. If Simms only had 1 touch and that was a goal, probably suggests we need to get the ball to our strikers more often. If we look at...

    Simms

That's pretty harsh, he does make runs. The one 'pass' directed to him today was a punt for him to chase down. Generally, we want to get the ball to his feet and find him the box and don't really do either. These kind of issues stem from the midfield, imo - and with reinforcements in that area I...

I've read the reports from Sky and the Telegraph and note the description of the first goal:

That stems from Allen, Sheaf and even Eccles passing range. The passes out wide are safer bets for them - it's a good job we have MVE, Saka, Wright and Bidwell in those wide spaces.

    Simms

I feel sorry for Godden and Simms - we just don't create any chances for them. We find a lot of joy down the flanks which is good, but we're finding joy down the middle.

If you've watched the replay, you would've seen Sheaf was never in control of the ball so a pass to either of those CBs would be risky. Allen controlled the ball, took another touch before losing control before his third touch in the box. I like Allen, but he's undoubtedly the guilty party here...

It's his fault - 100%. He clearly loses control of the ball and Sheaf's interception was fine.

We don't create chances down the middle at all which is why both Godden and Simms don't look great. It's no surprise Wright suddenly looks like twice the player when playing down the left. Today's result, like 4-5 times this season, is that we couldn't maintain control in midfield and we're...

    Transfer Rumour Haji Wright

20 goals and 10 assists for a striker, as we know, can fetch a £20-25 million fee. In the end, Wright will be worth his fee and some.

When Leicester went down, players like Maddison and Tielmans have gone on to make impacts at teams at the top end of the Prem. Yet, they were relegated.

The players we signed from them were in their team when they finished 5th in Championship. Collins, Kitching and Styles were all starters for them.

Love the idea, but it’s not the WWE! Question: what do we reckon COH’s theme song would be?

    Transfer Rumour Haji Wright

We were likely interested in Whittaker in the summer but doubt that we desperately wanted him as we’re a more attractive destination than Plymouth. Form comes and goes and the job of the recruitment team is to decide who they think will have the higher upside. Simms has been finding his groove...

    Sky Sports foreseeing the future

To clarify, I think they’ll finish top 6 and lose to their opponent in the playoffs.
