It will, and he would have been very young at that time; players develop at different rates and at different times. Not making a splash at your first club is hardly a yardstick.

I'd argue we got no more points than we deserved in those games. Southampton you can take out, as it was a good 45 minutes followed by backs to the wall. Fair enough. The rest, we were shit. Preston, the worst of the lot. Much better than them 11 v 11, then them down to ten and no space. Ok...

I do this on Football Manager, tbf. I'm light in a position, get a series of bids in for likely players, can't make my mind up on which is best, so end up signing them all.

Regardless of his qualities, he needed a change. He'd gone stale and he should have been sold the season before when his stock was so high. No criticism for anyone for that, as hindsight's a wonderful thing.

Agree to an extent, but what's concerning is he can't force his way into the team when others are out of form. This is what he was signed for; Kitching needs a spell out, so Woolfenden in. Not happened, though.

Think he was a bit of a panic buy after we failed to get our main target (who was never really available). Poor strategy to chase Hughes so hard.

That makes no sense. We're a club chasing promotion; you want our players, you massively over pay. Availability and value for money also dictates who gets bidded for. Also, none of us know what conversations go on behind the scenes; what enquiries we've had.

That's the consensus on the board. Look back over threads on recruitment at times when we're winning and when we're not. The reality is somewhere between; we've had good recruitment, with some more successful than other. And we're above Middlesbrough and finished above them last season, too.

Our recruitment is brilliant when in good form, and shite when not.

Conversely, they have a period of poor form and they are dismissed as not good enough. It's opposite sides of the same coin.
