Nothing to do with passion from the fans for their club then?

Nah, it's a forum for discussing Coventry City. You should try it sometime.

If We Hadn't Got Rid of Richardson....

And what of Richardson? What of his salary? What of the interest free loan of £80K he had from the club every year? What of the £300K he made from the sale to Tesco? Richardson couldn't even spell truth. Look at the views of the fans after the board meeting in December 2001 and the quotes...

"Nothing in particular " games that linger in the memory......

Similar thing happened to us after a Spurs game at HR. We were walking around from the West End and walking past the kop entrance when this Spurs fan pushed between us and smacked this bloke in the face. He had just been walking next to us minding his own business, etc. Football was a lot...

This might be of interest: CONTRACTS were signed for the building of the pounds 113 million Ricoh Arena in October 2003. The land and buildings are owned by a Coventry City Council wholly-owned subsidiary company, Coventry North Regeneration. It leases them to Arena Coventry Ltd, which runs the...

If We Hadn't Got Rid of Richardson....

I'm not and never have said Richardson was guilty, McGinnity was innocent. However, I can't agree with your re-writing of history and making out it to be the biggest historical injustice since Richard III. Richardson was ousted as he nearly bankrupted the club. He ran up debts of £60M. At...

Sure that was another bastard then. The one I "bumped" was Gold as there was paint on my car for a few years afterwards. I used to drive Citroens in those days. This one was a big estate like a hearse. No wonder I struggled to park it. *Not my actual car.

I think he would have ran a football club better.

If We Hadn't Got Rid of Richardson....

Progress on the new stadium was painfully slow and at the point when Richardson was ousted as chairman not so much as a brick had been laid. Yet some two years previously the club had sold Highfield Road to property developers. "That was under my predecessor's regime," said McGinnity, "and he...

I went to that. I think it was that one. I remember parking in nearby streets and reversing into another car as I tried to get out of my parking space. I was an inexperienced driver at the time. Never left a note or anything obviously.

I hate to say it but I might be joining Astute and Tony's team. Never read such absolute rubbish. The ground was sold in 2000 if I recall and BR wasn't ousted until 2002.

If We Hadn't Got Rid of Richardson....

Good times? Yes. Affordable times? No. In hindsight, for me at least, I would rather have not had quite so many players we couldn't afford and now be in a healthy state and higher up the league ladder. Richardson was a greedy opportunist and all our ills can be traced back to his "vision"...

I don't think anyone argues he's not being paid. I would be surprised if it's £500K a year though. And that wage was 15 years ago too, which if you take inflation into account would be a hell of a lot more than that, around £775K in fact.

I remember the outrage too when we were relegated that he awarded himself a huge bonus. He was earning £500K a year when we went down. Again, I say if it leaked that Fisher was earning that....
