Understand. But the point remains the same Tony ie only a fraction of the population have got it. The sampling that’s carried out should provide a more accurate number Edit - just trying to bring some perspective and stop widespread panic !!

Did I say that ?!! I’m fully aware of ‘how bad it is’...I’ve not seen my mum since March (as she’s asthmatic and in her 70s) and my ex wife hasn’t been able to see her mum who nearly died from a stroke a few weeks ago because of Covid restrictions in hospital. I’m just saying the proportion of...

Im not saying it’s not increasing but it’s still a fraction of the population. I was just looking for the latest national sampling figures as that should give a reasonable indication, can’t see them at the moment and got some work to do. Will check

This is correct. I’m not sure how many tests were carried out last week but guessing around 1.2m and out of those only around 20k actually had it. Around 1.7% (of people who thought they had it have actually got it). Obviously there’s a stack of people who haven’t been able to be tested who...

Great half, 20 seconds aside ! Need Hamer to be careful second half (looks a player though !). Impressed, hope we can keep it up.

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

Final bit of positive(ish) news is growth of 6.6% in July announced today. kind of as expected but I’m hoping with Aug staycations hopefully another decent month which will mean overall the year will end up better than expected (during early stages of outbreak). I remember back in May BoE...

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

Come on, why try to turn something relatively positive into a negative ?!! The statement indicates it goes beyond the EU/Japan trade agreement in certain areas (financial services, food etc). I’ve not studied both trade deals so don’t know if this is true or not...sure it’ll come out in due...

Cock and Co 😂 Yeah, it’s lab capacity not the testing sites. To be fair we should be using more private labs to process (why not if public sector hasn’t got capacity), PHE originally wanted to keep all the testing to themselves, hence the earlier shambles. How we haven’t got capacity by now is poor

Slightly different to not being taught at all though, that was my point.

Agree, obviously not everything can be taught remotely, surely a fair bit can though (forgot BSB is science isn’t he). I’m talking about if a lockdown is required to at least deliver some decent quality home based learning whilst the lockdown is in place

My point is I’m not sure those other countries are fairing much/any better but they were reopening. Fair play to BSB who just wants to get on with teaching. Even though some of the restrictions might be hindering the quality of teaching, those kids are at least getting more than they were pre...

BSB, was there push back on remote learning previously ? I read a fair bit pre summer that unions weren’t keen (but also don’t know if Williamson ever pushed it - let’s be honest, he’s shit so who knows) As Dave alluded to above, I thought schools might’ve prepped for more remote learning incase...

Ps does anyone know why we aren’t implementing the standard tech track and trace software yet ? (in conjunction with the manual track and trace). Are we looking for different specifications ? I know the original bespoke software failed but wasn’t sure why they haven’t reverted to the standard...

Not sure you can say that Tony when Spain and France are running at c9-10k cases per day and schools have recently reopened. Personally I believe it’s the right thing for now and if there are outbreaks in a certain locations then it would be sensible to close them again (in that area). But why...

Hmmm, I’m not sure it’s that dramatic. A lot of firms I’m aware of are, where possible, continuing some level of WFH. Look at a number of the banks and accountancy firms for example ?!! I think a good thing to come out of all this will be better work life balance, flexible working etc but as...

Haha, good spot !!! I meant it’s not our general style of play to be hitting long balls in behind though, hence us not probably fully appreciating the pace he’s got.

    Maybe two more...

Probably hit the nail on the head there. Style of play. We don’t really knock it long in behind so don’t get to see it often, other than the odd ball down the line.

Some fair points Shmmee but our employment laws don’t allow for companies to just hire and fire, well not for longer serving staff (2+ years). The furlough scheme (to be fair one of the better things the government has done) was set up to keep as many people in employment as possible and then...
