    Summer transfer window 2024

It’s all hypothetical until the season starts. Even if Sakamoto starts the season, the long term trajectory is that EMC and Wright are our longer term options. It remains Another point to make, Sakamoto’s xG stat wasn’t great, he scored a lot of low probability chances and if I’m being...

    Summer transfer window 2024

Yes and no. You obviously need to rotate in and between games and most managers, Robins included, have what they believe is their best team. This was the case last season where everyone was available and match fit, we played the same starting 11 consistently and this season won’t be any...

    Summer transfer window 2024

Even if Sakamoto starts the season, he won’t be ending it as a starter. EMC is definitely rated higher than Sakamoto over the long term. Sakamoto turns 28 this year, he’s probably not going to improve much more as a player. Last season, he was one of my favourite players and we missed him, I...

    Summer transfer window 2024

That’s a given over a 50 game season, but Robins will have a starting 11 for the most important games in mind.

    Summer transfer window 2024

So we’ve spent £12m on left sided players to sit one of them on the bench? Mason-Clark played more or less an equal amount of games at RW before he joined Peterborough.

    Summer transfer window 2024

I don’t think we spent £5m on EMC to sit him on the bench… Sakamoto could make a legendary impact role player.

    Summer transfer window 2024

Wright has played AM and RW at various points in games last season. Perhaps not on the first day of the season, but the 3 will be Simms, Wright and EMC. Sakamoto will remain an important play but just in a different capacity imo.

    Summer transfer window 2024

Why not? EMC and Wright are both players that have been identified as players that will be in the Prem. EMC hit double figure goals and assists last season in L1 and Wright was our top assister and joint top goal scorer. Robins also said post-Stevenage that he felt Sakamoto is still ‘not...

Personally, reckon one of Wright or EMC will play RW.

    Manchester Airport Incident

In Germany all the police around football fans were geared up, looked ready to go and didn’t look like the kind of people you’d want to antagonise. Our approach to policing is a too soft and I believe that has played a part in rising public disorder and violence in the streets. There’s no...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

It’s too early to say for sure because who knows what will happen between now and 2029. We can probably all agree that after 2019, the probability of a Labour government in 2024 was quite low. Labour has a massive majority but it is more precarious than you’d expect. As for the lesser parties...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Could genuinely see this Labour government being in for one term. They’ll be challenged on the right by Reform and on the left by the Greens. Without the full details, Reform alone cost the Tories around 80 seats.

I agree, it’s more a symptom of how far we’ve come and the next steps of our progression as a club. The players mentioned are decent, but would Allen get into another playoff chasing team? Probably not, given his last Championship team was relegated Burton. The other consideration is squad...

    Transfer Rumour Mitchy Ntelo

We’re going to be quicker in the transition from what I seen in the Getafe game. Lots of diagonals to our wide players. Eccles in particular was sitting in that pivot position and pinging balls around, likewise with the CBs. Particularly, this is a tactical idea that’ll favour Binks as that was...

    Injuries

Robins clearly doesn’t agree otherwise we wouldn’t be chasing CMs all summer; Stamenic, Browne, the ex-PSG Lausanne and Fernandes from that Swiss team? Competition is good and even Eccles and Sheaf admitted they were running on fumes towards the end of last season. To go the distance in a 48+...

Did Stevenage start their B team in the first half?

    Transfer Rumour Mitchy Ntelo

Here’s hoping, if Eccles is echoing the goals set by MR and his team, then the goal is firmly playoffs and the coaching staff believe autos could be in reach. That’s what I took from his interview last night.

Always has been, Eccles yesterday alluded to how tired Sheaf and he was last season towards the end of the season. With Torp & Sheaf down, we could be starting the Stoke game with a midfield of Eccles, Rudoni and Allen / Palmer. Which isn’t ideal. Striker is also pretty desperate too.

    Transfer Rumour Mitchy Ntelo

Robins seemed to hint we’ll be loaning him out after preseason and that’s the right decision. A good loan to a L1 standard club and that’s a good benchmark if he’s good enough to push the first team in 2025/26.

    Match Thread Stevenage (A)- 23/07/24

He’s never played RB before, Lati is going to be the primary cover for MVE and we’re actively looking for a CB. There were a couple of moments v Getafe where he thought awkward at RB and requires more coaching in that regard. Another loan to L1 is likely in my view.
