More false Coventry council claims exposed over Ricoh Wasps deal-Les Reid

Haven't read much about the prudential borrowing scenario so don't know, Councils can give loans to businesses though, and if they still have, and if it's still at 5%, then that appears to be at a commercial rate.

More false Coventry council claims exposed over Ricoh Wasps deal-Les Reid

In the JR it was mentioned that the Council would use cash reserves for a while, before then getting a loan. Hadn't noticed that before. The Council’s net interest return whilst it uses its cash balances to fund the loan (estimated to be for at least 3-5 years) would be about 4% or £500,000 per...

More false Coventry council claims exposed over Ricoh Wasps deal-Les Reid

Joy would accept a 'clean restriction-free long lease', I've never heard of such a thing, do they exist?

    Sisu refused permission to appeal...

The costs SISU paid were never due to ACL as the case was against the Council, only the Council were awarded costs. I'm sure ACL would have borne some costs, I'd guess at less than £100k, but only guessing.

    Sisu refused permission to appeal...

Isn't the issue not whether it was state aid, but whether it was illegal state aid?

    Sisu refused permission to appeal...

I agree, selling our half of the management company that we paid the rent to was a mistake, we could have prevented any sale if we hadn't.

    Sisu refused permission to appeal...

I think that's how they were successful in getting the last one to Court. Do both sides put their point across at this hearing does anyone know?

    Sisu refused permission to appeal...

yep, if only they had built us a stadium and given us half of the management company for a mere £6m.

    Sisu refused permission to appeal...

The amount owed to the bank was £19m, the Council agreed a deal to pay £14m. MR JUSTICE HICKINBOTTOM Approved Judgment R (Sky Blue Sports & Leisure Ltd) v 68. Although SISU were in discussions with the Bank, and the Council feared that they had made their own offer to purchase the debt...

It clears up any doubt I had about whether you know what you're talking about. Do CCFC Ltd own Coventry City?

From the ccfc website...'the liquidator's offer for the charity’s 50% stake in the Ricoh Arena was generous – around £2.8 million', so why say around £2.8m if it was £2.8m? I don't know what you mean about me reading your other posts again.

Is there any evidence that CCFC Ltd made an offer? Higgs statement when explaining their decision to go with Wasps says that Otium bid, rather than the company with the option, CCFC Ltd.

Council admits Ricoh Arena was not sustainable without CCFC

The full amount owed including the hedging arrangement was £19m, they paid £14m incl the hedge. Yes, that's where loan came from. I'm not aware from anywhere that SISU put any bids in (not suggesting they should have done). Figures from the JR, but a bit too wordy to copy out.

Yeah, that would be it. Did they pay the full amount?

Council admits Ricoh Arena was not sustainable without CCFC

Maybe to find out if it was possible, they found it wasn't.

Council admits Ricoh Arena was not sustainable without CCFC

The likely outcome is heavily weighted one way though isn't it, seeing as the bank refused much higher offers.

Council admits Ricoh Arena was not sustainable without CCFC

From the JR. In my view the offer was always doomed, the bank were never going to accept SISU's low offer. SISU considered that the Bank debt could be purchased for £2m-5m. It was part of their plan that the debt be purchased – in whole, or at least as to 50%, by them – for that sum. They...

Weirdest place you've seen something CCFC related?

Amanda Holden wore a City top (just a City top) in bed in the TV series Hearts and Bones. Can't find a picture, but pretty sure I didn't dream it.
