    Barnsley (Home) Match Thread

The pre-game stats for this game are ridiculous: Barnsley - 6 League defeats in a row, 16 defeats and 7 draws of their last 23 visits, the last win coming in 1923, and failed to win away since mid-August. Coventry - 6 unbeaten in the League, unbeaten at home this season.

    Our Midfield

Those mentioning Jacobs, the Birmingham Mail are reporting that Jackett wants him to step up to the first team this season.

Mowbray wants to bring back Proschwitz permanently...

Full pre-season and I think he'd do well in this league. I'd imagine we'll be offering a deal way below what he's recently been getting and might just be an option if he can't get anything better back in Germany.

    villa after maddison?

Didn't Wilson get injured on New Years Day and was out for 3 months though? He might have gone had he not got injured, no club would sign a player who was out until march. They would much rather wait until the summer and also look at how he recovered from the injury.

    villa after maddison?

No chance we'd get £5m, Dele Alli went for that and he has been one of the best players in this division this season.

    Leon Clarke

He made an angry scot look like the messiah, and we've been dreadful ever since he left. I would have him back in a heartbeat.

Can't count the away loss at Barnsley either can we as he watched that one from the stands

Also should look at league 2 play off teams who don't get promoted, bound to be a few gems in there who have experienced a successful season.

    Shaun Derry sacked

Bad news with them being a point behind us with a game in hand. A new manager bounce, if it occurs, will ensure their safety, not that we've had one! Imagine Pressley going there and keeping them up at our expense, cannot bear the thought.

what can Mowbray change for tues ?

-------------Burge Phillips-Webster-Martin-Stokes ----------Pennington -------Thomas-------Fleck Odelusi---------------------JOB -----------Samuel If Thomas isn't fit move JOB inside and play Williams/Turgott. Looks pretty desperate, but I think we reached that stage a while back.

    5 things from today's game

I find it incredible that we haven't got a central midfielder in despite it being one of our biggest problems all season.

    Tony Mowbray

He once spent £2.5m on Leon Barnett. For this reason and this reason only, I'm out.

    Waggot speaks

Not rushing for an appointment can be a good thing ensuring you get the right man, but under Shaw those 5 losses ruined our season. Let's hope a similar thing doesn't happen, leaving the new man with too much to do.

    Pressley's signings

If this is the case then I guess Pressley can be defended to an extent as I believe that the main reason for this seasons troubles is the signings, our squad can't fit a system without obvious deficiencies. Pressley proved at the start of the 12/13 season that he can do well with a good first...

    Pressley's signings

Do you actually know that or is it just speculation? How much of a football man is Waggott? At Charlton he was drafted in to cut the costs around the club as much as possible, that doesn't scream of a man who can pick a player, so why would they give him that responsibility? Then again it...

    Crewe Alex maybe a lesson

He got them promoted from League 2 in a season where they were 10 points off play offs when he took over in November. Then consolidated them in League 1, while winning the JPT (beating us 3-0 along the way). Has previous successes which brought him time, where are Pressley's?

    From SISU's point of view

Yes that's probably the case, didn't take that into account. If you look at the vile, from Lerner'd point of view, going down would be a catastrophe financially especially with this TV deal and the fact he wants to sell up, therefore Lambert had to go, the risk was necessary. It was touted...

    From SISU's point of view

This is purely hypothetical. Let's just assume keeping Pressley sends us down and installing a new manager keeps us up. Which is more cost effective: A. Keep Pressley and go down, get less money from the football league, lower gates but allowed to cut wages as it doesn't cost as much to...
