Strong rumours that Boris is in trouble, lots of tactical voting in his constituency.

Are we really doing this, making sweeping assumptions about the political allegiances of inconsiderate drivers? Wow.

Eh? I'm not sure what you mean. We were just talking about electoral fraud and this was just thrown out there to show how easy it is to subvert our system if you have a rubber, or someone else's polling card etc. Not sure what brexit has to do with it.

I also don't know why we get pencils to vote with. This is obviously a previous election, but you do wonder:

Also reports of people in certain areas who have already voted by post turning up at polling stations.

That's not misleading at all Jeremy.

It's hard to know what to believe, I follow people from left and right on twitter but there are whispers suggesting it isn't going well for Labour. Just seen a tweet from journalist saying that Tories will get most votes and seats in Wales. Not sure where this comes from, I guess it's exit polls...

Came from teachers at the school, most of whom will be voting Labour so no reason to make it up or exaggerate. Got a bit confrontational apparently. Such a shame. Always liked Cunningham, met him once briefly, very decent and principled man.

Sultana, the Labour candidate in Coventry South, being a case in point. On Tuesday she was stood outside Willenhall Primary School heckling parents as they left saying the school would close if they didn't vote Labour on Thursday. Imagine someone as honourable as Cunningham doing that. This...

    General Election 2019 thread

It's always been said that bad weather benefits the Tories as older voters are more determined to vote. Not sure about that this time, I have a feeling turnout is going to be very high. Social media is engaging young people in politics in a way we could not have imagined a few elections back...

This is a very fair point. It was clear that there had to be an adjustment post-2010, but you're right - the cut the deficit at all costs mantra has gradually been abandoned in favour of, well, votes I guess. Politicians eh.

Yes and no, although the cost of borrowing is very low at the minute. I'll be honest, I'm not an economist, and those that are seem to disagree with each other. I did try to read and better understand macroeconomics once, but it made my head hurt and there were dougnuts in the fridge. I guess...

I don't know how you can look at the spending plans and argue they're not 'productive'. I'm not sure where you're going with that point. Much of the extra money is being invested in infrastructure and public services. There would be a run of the pound, that is widely accepted because it is...

    General Election 2019 thread

The deficit is down from 150 billion to 21 billion, but it is starting to rise again because the government is starting to spend and borrow more. Isn't that what you want them to do? Any devaluing of sterling will be nothing on what will happen tonight if Labour win. I think we'd see a run on...

    General Election 2019 thread

I don't think he has been hidden away, he has been front and centre for the most part - the election broadcasts has almost exclusively featured him speaking direct to camera. They have, however, shielded him from the one-to-one interviews in which he struggles, and the unscripted stuff when he...

I don't think she's well, there have been rumours along those lines. If so, and Labour win office, I hope she stands aside. Never liked her, I find her politics divisive , but if she is poorly (big if) then she should be left alone.

Match Thread Ipswich Town vs. Coventry City Match Thread - Tuesday 10th Dec

Don't know if it's been mentioned but commentary is available on BBC online tonight. I think it's only usually available through ifollow to subscribers? Could be wrong on that though, in which case ignore me..

Fair enough. I wasn't aware of the voting split.

    General Election 2019 thread

On the first point, I genuinely believe Boris is far more centrist and liberal than the others you mention and he will pull the strings ultimately. That doesn't fit the narrative of those who like to put horns on his head, but I think this has been demonstrated quite clearly over the years. On...
