Christmas coming early apparently? / Dale Evans...

ha ha. :) However not in this context, as "do my head in" is a commonly used verb with no subject expected. It would be odd, wouldn't it, if I restructured the sentence as "in which it does my head." :angelic:

    Andreu's injury

He tumbled in my estimation when he suggested that Stalin and Hitler should run the club.

Christmas coming early apparently? / Dale Evans...

I know as a fully paid-up member of the Grammar Police it's not a popular profession. However the incorrect use of the reflexive 'myself' (twice!) in this text does my head in. I get that many people don't understand how to use apostrophes with words ending in an 's' or how to decline the verb...

The defender only releases Biamou's arm after he's fallen - Biamou isn't leaning in, he's being pulled down.

Has to be doesn't it? When Biamou doesn't go down with the first jump on the back the defender appears to drag him to the floor by the arm.

    Venezuela

You got me; that's exactly what I wrote, almost verbatim. "The UK economy is identical to Venezuela's" is what I wrote and thanks to your insight I now stand corrected.

    Venezuela

Maduro has now banned opposition parties from standing in the 2018 election. Two selected quotes from this article: "Venezuela has been mired in a worsening economic crisis characterised by shortages of basic goods and soaring inflation." "Supporters of Mr Maduro say his party has lifted many...

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

The only mandatory voting I have ever heard of came from dictatorships. Personally, I support the right to abstain.

    First ever record you bought?

I cannot remember. However, apparently, Morrissey used to ask this very question to people auditioning. If they chose something he thought inappropriate he wouldn't hire them.

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

Mart, from memory there are three key things you need to get right to get reliable information from any sampling exercise: 1) The questions must be clear and neutral (the Indie one isn't, it mixes other factors and then attempts to draw a conclusion on just one of them) 2) the sample size must...

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

I make no claim about other towns in the south. My claim is about Winchester. My questionnaire was also more fair than the one in the Indie - as I didn't lead the subject on by mentioning losing their civil rights or having a state of warfare if they didn't answer CCFC.
