Would love to buy into that. History tells us that the period before Christmas *is* us playing at the best standard available all season.

Match Thread Port Vale - Coventry City Match Thread - Tuesday 26th Dec

If he doesn't go with the Burge option, I can see Willis playing LB; Grimmer LW and Davies CB.

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

I agree. I'm right wing in the sense that I believe that managing a healthy economy is the most important thing that any government can do - but I detest the right wing social policies that Mart comes out with.

Match Thread Port Vale - Coventry City Match Thread - Tuesday 26th Dec

Who'd have thought we'd be worried if Vincenti is fit given the scepticism directed towards him in recent weeks? I doubt he'll play - he looked very sore and there isn't enough time. Just a thought. How about putting Burge on the right wing and playing O'Brien in goal? He must be an absolute...

    Board games - recommendations?

I only really like strategy games. Risk or Diplomacy if you want to spend all the holidays playing a single game and to fall out with everyone. Catan is good. To be honest, I'd play bridge every day if my family were interested. Other than chess, cannot think of a better game.

Mansfield will, I expect, be spending more in January - they have deep pockets. Stanley pulled two back - now 2-3.

    Transfer Rumour Baker

Baker, like some elements, accumulates negatively charged ions over time and thus becomes increasingly radioactive. So whilst he is past his half life, the radioactivity will give him super powers. I have just one doubt. It's now over 30 years since Chernobyl - but still no super heroes. :(

Not surprised. For a long time I thought that Jordan had some kind of qualification or special position such as Order of the Garter, so often did the acronym appear after his name.

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

Yep... sounds more positive doesn't it? Although to be fair, she did say that their initial reaction was to be negative and punish but that has dissipated.

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

No! :) I left ages ago and then came back a month or so ago when there was something new. I realised even then it was futile. It's a shame, because I would enjoy an intelligent debate about all sorts of issues but it seems to be impossible online - just lots of people writing their opinions...

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

I agree with Astute that this thread has become pretty pointless with entrenched opinions not swayed by new information; repetition and some bloody stupid things written (not pointing fingers at any one person). Just wanted to share that on the way back from the match last night we were...

    McWankty

He was so lucky to have directed the ball into the goal last night and similarly unlucky previously to have directed the ball past the goal on other occasions.

    Transfer Rumour Baker

He did sound as if he wouldn't rule it out, but I don't think he said that exactly. More that he'd spoken to Baker about the kind of player he wanted and if he fits the bill he would consider it.

Match Thread Coventry City - Wycombe Wanderers Match Thread - Friday 22nd Dec

Just got back home. What a scrappy game. Personally, I didn't think that Wycombe looked like scoring all evening until they did - twice. Would love to see the 'four' penalties replayed - don't really feel that I was sighted enough to have an opinion on any of them. EDIT: Seen three of them...

    Greatest Cover version

I agree that the Hendrix version is brilliant (better than the original), but this isn't too shabby either: I also like this:
