Advice Please: Summer Jobs for Student?

So then, 16-year-old daughter is just about to finish her GCSEs, and is looking for a job full-time/part-time/flexible, over the summer. I'm struggling a bit to help her - I must confess I thought it would be pretty easy. This place is always a good source of information, some of of it is even...

    Wasps downward spiral...

It's almost like being here makes one cynical, OSB. :) I don't quite know how Wasps dig themselves out of this hole, but if you were going to go into administration, doing it whilst the RFU has effectively ring-fenced the top division wouldn't be entirely bad timing.

All joking aside, you'd have to factor that in if you're a public authority lending to Wasps. Whatever loan they're applying for will have to be bulletproof. I'd be asking for indemnity clauses for potential legal costs if I was on the WMCA!

    Wasps downward spiral...

I've just had a good look around the WMCA website and read one of their investment reports. The lending they do looks like infrastructure, housing, green projects, brownfield development, etc. etc. On the face of it, it looks well governed, very low risk, and turns a profit. I can't see them...

    Wasps downward spiral...

Not too hard to join the dots here. Refinancing the bond always looked like a stretch, and so it has turned out. Net result, Wasps are after public money to bail them out. It's basically unconscionable, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Coventry City council help out. They...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I'm not sure it's going exactly to plan, but I'd entirely agree that the Tories did this to provoke another culture war rather than as a serious attempt to deal with issue. Anything to distract from Boris or the economy, basically.

    Wasps downward spiral...

Appreciate the honesty, like you say no one really knows about the financial stuff, but from the outside it looks ugly at the moment. I think you're a bit wrong on the "water under the bridge" thing too. There's still plenty of dislike for Wasps, and I don't think it'll be going away anytime...

Wasps potential to move elsewhere in London/SE was being discussed a long time ago... https://www.espn.co.uk/rugby/story/_/id/15400663/wasps-linked-again-olympic-stadium-move So let's be adults; the only reason Wasps (self-branded, remember, as London Wasps), moved to Coventry is that they got...

The mortgage lenders will be very reluctant to take on that kind of lending without some kind of guarantee. That's why you see interest rates rise on lending as the Loan-to-Value ratio increases. Even if it worked, and the Government backed the loans, this would surely further inflate the...

Rents in this country are left entirely to the free market, unlike most other European nations, making it perilous and expensive. This is one of the main reasons people want to buy their own homes. Tories, of course, have no interest in addressing this. Loosening planning laws per se won't...

Right-to-buy is just another really poorly thought out idea that Johnson is using to distract from his multiple failings. If we genuinely want to sort out housing then I'd start by looking at regulating the private rental market (where 9bn is housing benefit is going every year). We might...

    Cineworld bows to the bigots

I think we're actually aligned on this, but I'd say it could be a reasonable protest if done reasonably (i.e. without offering threat to patrons or staff). However, I don't agree with the purpose of it for a minute. I'm absolutely for freedom of religion, and absolutely against anyone trying to...

Personally speaking, I thought O'Hare was too Brummie. But his performances quickly won me over.

Fair enough, as previous, you're right on this, and I'm clearly wrong. I'll just have to get you next time. 🙂

Do you really think the Daily Mail or Daily Express would be tolerant of any Labour leader who'd had five children with other women whilst married? Who'd been sacked for lying? Who wrote overtly racist comments, in his regular columns. Who ditched his security detail to attend a bunga-bunga...

Johnson has never wanted the best team, he wants the ultra-loyalists who go along with him regardless. Unfortunately the Venn diagram of 'loyal to Johnson' and 'a complete idiot' fit in the same exact circle. Why do you think he would change? He has already gone from 'humbled' to "I'd do the...

    Wasps downward spiral...

I worked for a credit card company for a while. We had a very small but nonetheless surprising number of indebted customers who's family claimed they had died, but later turned out to be very much alive! I don't know why, but for some reason it cheered me up that anyone would have the front to...
