Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

Coventry RFC were on an upward course before Wasps got here. Attendances increased despite them not because of them. Again the promise to play on Sundays not Saturdays, Premiership versus Championship rugby literally on your doorstep. C'mon. The council and Wasps did a secret deal to sell our...

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

I suspect it's more to do with HMRC policy on how long they'll wait for payment before taking action. I don't think it's a coincidence that Wasps and Worcester are both under threat from HMRC, I'd guess they've got similar filing dates for tax purposes...

    USSR invades Ukraine.

The EMP from the false flag NATO nuke will trigger the nanoparticles in the vaccine? This is definitely one of the less plausible but more entertaining conspiracy theories I've read in a while. I'd genuinely worry about anyone who did believe it, but there are probably some out there... As a...

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

Their was a detailed risk statement in the bond prospectus that covered the lease situation, and the possibility of it returning to the council if Wasps became insolvent. So basically it was the bondholder's responsibility to be aware of that I think. In truth it sounds like if it went to court...

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

It's a sub-lease, and as I understand it remains binding on whoever ends up with the head lease. So we'll stay on the same terms unless both parties want to renegotiate. This is why the people flapping about us getting kicked out are mistaken, imho.

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

As far as the RFU are concerned, even a notice of administration is an insolvency event. That's how the bondholders will see it too, I think. If there was a concrete plan for refinancing, then they'd never have taken this step. If they can avoid actually going into administration at this point...

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

It's a well thought out post NW, but I think you've highlighted one of the major issues; a lot of us would not want Wasps to be any part of CCFC (and vice versa with many of their fans I suspect). The other point that I know I'm boring on about, is that Wasps do not make money. They got to 2nd...

I was thinking, I'd love that job. But then I realised you'd have to squeeze in next to Mike Ashley every day. :)

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

I know it's remarkably petty and small-minded, but I do like the idea of having Wasps as our tenants, at least for a little while. We could close their shop, take their logos down, give them a tiny changing room, cancel their first six home games with no notice, and then fuck 'em off to...

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

I genuinely can't see why anyone would want to buy Wasps in their current state - they've never turned a profit despite owning the stadium, being in the top division, and having £35m to invest. They've literally been at the top of the cycle and it still hasn't been enough. Someone might want...

    This is a bit worrying

There's a fair bit of history between Hindu and Muslim of course, but imho this is basically rampant sectarianism fuelled by lunatics on social media. At one point, probably in the mid-90s, I genuinely thought the world was becoming a calmer, more civilised place, and then Twitter and Facebook...

    USSR invades Ukraine.

Could this finally be the thing that encourages them to get shot of Putin? This plus that Russian 'Celine Dion' shouting out about how crazy the war is... perhaps the message is starting to get through?

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

Wasps moving to Coventry was wrong at every level. I'm sorry for the people whose jobs might be at risk, but their actions before and since moving here means that anyone who supports them or (like John Dalziel, stadium announcer for Wasps) has profited directly from the move, is in no place...

    Wasps downward spiral...

We didn't have a £35m debt secured against our primary asset either. They're all out of wriggle room, that's why they've gone for Administration.

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

You're having a laugh, surely? Do you remember us playing in Birmingham? Do you remember Wasps promising to play on Sundays so as to not impact CRFC? Do you remember the Council talking about rebuilding trust with the club before discussing ownership of the stadium? You are Kevin Maton and I...

That statement is pretty much exactly the same as they've been saying since before the bonds were due for repayment.

    Wasps downward spiral...

I can see them dodging relegation - they'll claim it's all down to Covid (conveniently ignoring their endless years of losses and then the borrowing of £35m at 6.5% with no real idea of how to pay it back). The RFU will conspire with them because... well that's what the RFU do, look after their...
