Exactly this. How do you scout players for United? What's their identity? What's their style of play? They don't have one. That comes from the top down; then employ a manager to implement it & recruit around it. At United it just seems like "He's a big name, might be good for the club...

As @Liquid Gold said that's a long time ago though. Credit to Ronaldo, he's adapted his game to prolong his career but he can't play that way at an elite level anymore. He basically can't/won't press at all either.

Which is all well & good if you think he's good enough still to build a team around & play to suit him.

Undoubtedly, can't believe it's ever been in question, he simply can't play this style of football. There's a few like that (De Gea & Maguire obvious examples); high profile, decent players in their own way & will possibly put up decent numbers because they're playing the way they want to/are...

Struggle to find a defender worse when the ball is played in behind him at PL level. This is why the clamour for him to ever play for England is utter nonsense.
