If we did pay the reported £125k “loan fee” or anything even close to that amount there is no way we are going to pass up signing him, we can’t afford to waste that kind of cash. Even if it means selling him on in January to recoup some funds.

With all due respect, its realistic to assume hes off. He very nearly went in January and his stock has only risen since then. Had Derby come up with an extra tenner in January we would have sold him so it seems highly unlikely we can retain him now that every else knows he is as good as they...

I assumed there would be some sort of additional prize money from the EFL for being promoted via the play offs but there isn't - all league 2 clubs get a basic award from the EFL of £472,000 regardless of final league position.

I imagine it would be a real kick in the teeth to be stuck on the team bus, knowing you weren't playing.

There is precedent though. Leeds, Charlton, Wolves, Southampton..... all dropped down the divisions and then bounced back up once they had momentum. I see no reason why we can't bounce straight up from league one to the champ next season. Getting up to the prem is an altogether different...

Makes sense. Before the match you want the team 100% focused and having mates from the squad but who aren't playing on the team bus could be a distraction. On the way back, having won, its a free for all.

Wouldn't be a bad deal really if he went to a high champ/middling prem team and then got loaned back to us for a full season. As long as its all done and dusted early in the summer window so that he can just focus on a full pre-season as part of the squad then it shouldn't affect him or us too...

I was so excited when we signed Vincenti. He was immense at Rochdale but have only seen tiny glimpses of that form since he's been here. Pretty sure he has had surgery though so would be interesting to see what happens now. He costs little so id be inclined to keep him until January and reassess...

McNulty said so on camera in his post-match interview. The squad does seem to be a pretty happy little unit and that counts for a lot. Might just work in our favour, especially if Robins is backed with a little bit of cash.

We paid a fee to loan him and i think it was only done that way because we couldn't get the permanent deal done in time. Having stumped up the money i think its pretty nailed on he will now sign for us on a free once his Rotherham contract expires.
