Match Thread ⚽️ Coventry City vs Hull City Match Thread - Saturday 11th Mar

Robins rarely changes a winning team, and doubt he'll tinker on Saturday after a 4-0 win. Would be good to see Sheaf back on the bench as the 2 midweek games in the North West next week will require changes I am sure. Would expect Walker will be given a decent run off the bench (as will Norton...

    Rose unhappy?

Whilst technically Rose is good, and he has an eye for a pass, he's not aggressive enough and is prone to lapses in concentration. Would prefer we bring through George Burroughs, and that St Albans City lad we signed as back ups next season. We need 3 CBs in the summer (hopefully McInally &...

Match Thread ⚽️ Coventry City vs Hull City Match Thread - Saturday 11th Mar

I'd be tempted to leave JWE in at LWB as we're at home and could use his more offensive approach. Walker for Godden is another possible change, but I can't see Robins doing that. If Sheaf is back then it will be interesting, but Eccles doesn't deserve to lose his place, and am not sure you can...

    Where Will We Finish

There's a lot of things that are in our favour. * The league's best striker who's bang in form * Stingy defence, and Club record for clean sheets * Players playing themselves into form (Dabo, Eccles) * Key Players to return and play some part this season ( Sheaf, Allen & Palmer) Any team...

Ben Wilson' race for the golden glove?!

For a guy that had played very little first team football prior to joining us at age 26/227, there must of been a wise old head that knew he was a great GK. He’s made some mistakes, but he’s won me over this season. Moore let some soft goals in at the end of last season which was glossed over...

    Tyler walker

Looks like the penny’s dropped with Tyler finally. He improved us against Preston and Huddersfield today. His reverse ball to Vik was great before his easy goal. Despite Robins strange treatment of him last season when he was dropped after 2 on 2 , he clearly rates him. Be great if he stepped up...

Match Thread ⚽️ Huddersfield Town vs Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 4th Mar

Walker looks like a new player. Hungry, aggressive. His reverse ball to Vik was sublime and he got a goal. Should start against Hull. We were sloppy at times but defensively sound and grew into the game. Maybe our squad isn’t as bad as we thought

    Allen

I would assume Palmer may be 3-5 weeks, so again Easter fixtures most likely. McGuire needs to step up now and we need to stick Marco Rus on the bench

    Gyokeres fee

Vik could of pushed for the move in January but he didn't, Perhaps he still thinks there's a chance we can go up, however slim. He may have an idea of where he wants to go next, and the likes of Southampton / Leeds and Fulham are not it. 2 of those could be in The Championship next season...

    Tyler walker

I'm not sure why Godden is suddenly deemed not good enough. He suits the lone striker role with decent attacking midfielders behind him, this season he's played in a 2 with Vik which clearly doesn't work. Robins insists in persevering with this. We started the season that way (forced by...

    Tyler walker

Matty Godden - He’s a fox in the box but like Vik is best as the lone front man even though they are very different kind of strikers. That’s the problem we have and why they can’t play as a partnership. Walker more suited to partner Vik I reckon. More pace than Godden too. Matty to be super sub

    More Injuries

I don't think you can blame Robins. We've been cursed by ACL injuries in his 2nd spell (Jodi Jones 3 times, Biamou, Andreu, O'Hare) and players such as Kelly, Dabo & Godden are just injury prone. O'Hare went 2 years being battered from pillar to post without getting injured. Also look at players...

    4-4-2

If we don't play 4-4-2 then Burroughs has to start. I actually thought JWE showed a few glimpses last night of quality, and if we persist with 3 at the back he is going to have to play AMC. Wouldn't mind seeing BNC also in that role, they both have that flash of skill / trickery that can...

    4-4-2

Surely we cannot play 3-5-2 or 3-4-1-1 now. What with Allen, O'Hare & Palmer out for long periods. Time to switch to 4-4-2 based on the squad we have., perhaps 4-5-1 as well. Wilson Dabo Fadz McNally Bidwell Cuffy Hamer Eccles JWE Godden Vik Burroughs to fight it out with Dabo for...

    Preston ratings

4-8 weeks possibly more for those injuries. We might see them back for the last 2-3 games. McGuire will need to step up now, or we change formation.

    Preston ratings

Thought the subs actually improved us. Walker was more involved than Godden. Burroughs provided way more energy than Cuffy, and Rose played some good balls out of defence. This will be a crucial few days for Robins. He has to stitch together a team for Saturday, in a game we should be winning...

    Match Thread Preston V City - Tue 28th Feb - 19:45

Still no idea on Palmer’s injury severity. Can’t believe CWR interviewer failed to ask Robins about that. Sheaf isn’t far away, but if Robins doesn’t fancy McGuire then we’ve got no attacking midfielders.

    Match Thread Preston V City - Tue 28th Feb - 19:45

Expected line up. No attacking midfielders in squad with Palmer and O’Hare out. At least we have Walker and McGuire if Matty can’t last the 90. Apparently Palmer had scan today. Could do with some good news there but just our luck he’ll be out for the season

    Match Thread Preston V City - Tue 28th Feb - 19:45

This would be the time to start McGuire behind Vik, but his lack of game time suggests he's not impressing Robins. Only option is Godden I think, unless he throws a curveball and moves Cuffy to attacking midfield and slots Burroughs or Dabo to RWB, which I can't see him doing. Have full faith...

5 years since Mansfield away. Turning point

We also had a couple of horrible injuries that season. Andreu was the marquee signing and was out for 12 months in his 2nd game and then Jodi did his ACL in December. Luckily Shipley and Bayliss stepped up well from the youth team and Biamou became the perfect foil for McNulty
