I'm sorry, but I'm not sure you've really thought through how that works for Coventry RFC. They don't seem to keen on it at the moment, and as a fan of CRFC I'd like to imagine that one day they could push for the top flight (hard as that is), rather than just be a feeder club to a franchise...

Last post of the night, but again I'd disagree. The council have a duty to behave properly and fairly as well as doing the best deal possible for the city. As a citizen of Coventry, to me it is unacceptable to see the city associated with a franchise team - something that many members of the...

I disagree. We vote for the Council, and without them voting it through it doesn't happen. So we certainly do have a say in the matter. Whether they'll listen is a different thing, but if we sit still and say nothing we can hardly blame them for thinking we don't care.

Politely again, this misses the point for me. Even if it was a brilliant move for everyone involved except the Wasps fans, it would still be wrong. Franchising teams away from their fanbase is simply wrong. How did you feel when it happened to us, and how would you feel if it happened again?

To be honest, it's always nice to be liked, but if I even was the only person in the world who saw what's going on as wrong, then I'd still have to say something. In fact, now I thnk about it, I sometimes think I am the only person in the world who values my opinion. I'm certainly the only...

    Best Curry Houses in Cov

I honestly had to think about that one for a moment Otis. D'oh! Anyway, I've always quite liked Ali's in Earsldon - you have to take your own booze though. It's up the stairs next to Da Vinci's (which is my favourite restaurant in the city, but unless you're torchy or grendel it's for special...

If I could do one of those gif thingys, it'd be the one with Kevin Costner in J.F.K. "We're through the looking-glass here people". ;)

CCFC should buy Cov Rugby Club

Wouldn't want to shoot you down, but the thought of SISU having anything to do with CRFC fills me with dread. This is a business that has turned the corner, and is well-run, sustainable and improving. The guys in charge now seem to have a plan, and I would hope are too level-headed to even...

The fact that it's ethically improper provides a sufficient right to challenge it. If you're against moving clubs away from their fanbase, then you should be against this. Let's not pretend that Wasps fans are happy about it, because they aren't. They don't want to move further away from...

Les Reid: Ray Ranson & ex-CCFC people may be in on a club/Ricoh takeover plot

I doubt Les is just making this up for the hell of it. There are wheels within wheels here - it may not go the way anyone expects though!

    Who in their right mind

Ah, I only follow them because there's always something to talk about. I've no interest in football at all, but the off-the-pitch stuff is fantastic. ;) I'd write a book, but you couldn't do it justice. I think the only way forward is opera, or possibly pantomime. Tim, Joy and Ann should...

Joy Seppala: “We will not interfere with any deal between Wasps and ACL re: Ricoh"

Appreciated. I'm just trying to understand what's really going on here and get into the detail. My opinion is pretty shaky at the best of times, but I do at least try to support it with the occasional fact. I'm struggling here though. :)

Joy Seppala: “We will not interfere with any deal between Wasps and ACL re: Ricoh"

Stu, I'm not pretending for a moment to understand it, but how could that work? If IEC is 70% owned by ACL, and in turn owns the right to all of the F&B etc., then surely ACL gets access to a large proportion of what IEC makes? If I've read this right, Compass did indeed pay £125m for a ten...

Les Reid: Ray Ranson & ex-CCFC people may be in on a club/Ricoh takeover plot

Sid, go read Wasps forums. It's not acceptable, they're horrified. As for London teams relocating out of town, consider London Welsh who moved to Oxford. Attendances are falling off a cliff.

Joy Seppala: “We will not interfere with any deal between Wasps and ACL re: Ricoh"

I'm still trying to get my head around this. I think it works a bit like this. Joy is saying that she doesn't want to buy into ACL. One of the concerns appears to be that the catering and functions deal with IEC has been front loaded, meaning that ACL have received the cash, but presumably...

    From a usually reliable source

I'm not sure it would. The council have a statutory duty to get the most for their assets, and whether SISU are involved in legal proceedings or not, if they suggested that they might like to be a party to any potential sale then it would be hard for CCC to legally justify keeping them out of...

    Letter to Councillors

Write to them anyway. You don't need to live here to point our their hypocrisy, if that's how you see it. And you're investing in the City via the club - you're entitled to your say.

    Letter to Councillors

I think it's fair enough to complain to the Council on the presumption that the deal proposed involves Wasps taking ownership of ACL. That's what has been widely reported, and as yet has not been challenged. If you wait until the vote is made, then it'll be a little late to do anything about...
