Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Politely disagree mate. Whether you liked Corbyn or not, he at least tried to unite the left and right of the party. Under Starmer it's quite clearly and obviously a purge of the left using any pretext available.

    USSR invades Ukraine.

Puts another dent in Putin's reputation at home too, which can't hurt. Perhaps discourages travel in general across the bridge too, I certainly wouldn't fancy it knowing that it's constantly at risk of attack...

And of course, the Government's solution to a falling birth rate is a two-child benefit cap and a vigorous commitment to reduce immigration. Supported completely by the (supposedly) Labour government in waiting. For the first time in our lives, the average height of children is falling...

    Death List 2023

Beat me to it! First thing I thought of was "On yer bike!". Him and Carl Chinn (who is still alive of course) made brummy accents almost acceptable, then Peaky Blinders came along and ruined it all. 😁

I prefer to think of myself as 'big-boned'... though why all those bones seem to be squishy and residing specifically in my stomach area, I've no idea. 😁

Sports Direct? Well, if they use the same sizing strategy as their mugs, at least this one will fit me. 😄

    Henley in Arden Training Centre

The way I'm reading this, is that in effect Blues are taking over the Henley-in-Arden training place. I guess what's left of Wasps might be able to use a bit of it, maybe rent a pitch on Thursday nights or something, but it suggests that another part of their mad fever dream has bitten the dust.

    Cov city centre

I think I got the basic idea, mate. 😁 The fact is, as good as some of these spots are, it still feels like patchwork to me, and has done for a very long time. Like I say, it's opinions, I'd love the city centre to thrive again, but I'm not sure there's a genuine architectural vision there of...

And when might these plans come to fruition? I've been hearing this for 30 odd years, please forgive my cynicism!

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

That's a fair point, but PMQs always seems like the most embarrassing part of UK politics these days. The committee hearings tend to draw more facts out, but we deserve better from all of our politicians than the braying, pointless, shite, that passes for parliamentary debate these days...

    Cov city centre

The precinct was a brilliant piece of post-war planning, and personally I don't think many of the subsequent "improvements" ever added to it. The escalator, in particular, was an abomination, again imho.

    Cov city centre

That bit might be ok, though it's already got a bit of a "concrete wasteland" feel to it to me, but most of the stuff north of there is a mess, imho. I don't see any vision or drive in the council or the planners, other than for pushing through substantial housing developments (without any...

    Cov city centre

It's all opinions, of course, but mine is that the city centre is an architectural monstrosity that started to go wrong at the point they put that ridiculous escalator through the middle of the upper precinct. From that day onwards it just went further backwards, at least in appearance, with the...

    Ashes 2023

Fair point, but it's not just catches, we've got to be able to bat a bit too.... And we've just thrown away another wicket to an obvious trap. Brainless.
