Match Thread Plymouth Argyle vs. Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 19th Jan

It’s another strong team on paper, aside from missing one player. Last week it was Mason, now it’s Sterling. I still think we should be too good for them, as long as we attack and create as we did last week, but actually convert some of our chances. I think we carry Chaplin, as he is either...

    January Window

Any update or at least rumours on who the striker(s) is that MR has lined up? To clarify; have we been linked with two strikers - one he apparently had lined up last week but the players club were delaying it for some reason? And subsequently another has emerged based on the potential fee...

    Open Meeting about Stewarding

I’m not sure why they’ve started checking tickets when at the top of the stairs leading to each block. If people aren’t sure where togo To be fair that is irritating. If people aren’t sure where they need to be or which block they are in, they should ask; the stewards should be there and ready...

Andreu goes on loan to Hamilton Academical

It’s a shame as he clearly had good technical ability and in the right formation and team, could be a real difference maker. But it didn’t work with us, he was unlucky with injuries, his fitness was poor when he did return and from what I can tell is very clearly a number 10 and nothing else...

    Lose the Gut Thread 2019!!

Thanks! Yes I’ve gone for the podcast option, music can take me off pace a little, plus with podcasts because you are listening more intently to the conversation, it’s more of a distraction from the fact you’re on a long boring run!

I struggle with this too, especially when socialising, catching up with friends/colleagues, and even just going for meals with my girlfriend.

    Lose the Gut Thread 2019!!

I’m running the London Marathon in April for charity, and for some unknown reason since I found out a had a place in October my activity levels (football, gym, running) decreased and socialising increased (lots of food and beer!). However, now Christmas and NY are done, I’m starting my training...

Match Thread Coventry City vs. AFC Wimbledon Match Thread - Saturday 12th Jan

Technically he’s good, he has pace and intelligent movement and link play, especially if up front. Was today his best game? No. Should he have scored twice? Yes. However just because I like a player, that doesn’t make me blind to their faults and, in the case of Hiwula, he absolutely can...

Why? Hiwula absolutely should have scored I agree, not sure why that means I should keep silent. If that gives you some sort of ego boost then enjoy. I’m not fickle enough to suddenly say he’s shit though, he still offers more than the other strikers we have. Take that however you wish.

Has JCH touched the ball since he’s been on? Has Chaplin made one run beyond their defence? When the answer to both is no, and they’re our strikers, is it any wonder we’ve dropped off the pace offensively.

Not sure why Chaplin insists on playing 10 when he’s awful on the ball.

Match Thread Coventry City vs. AFC Wimbledon Match Thread - Saturday 12th Jan

Not surprised we scored, it was always going to come. I’ve seen us play a hundred times worse and the match thread hasn’t been as negative as it has been today. We’re creating a lot and our technical players are causing issues. The one thing I think we all agree on is CC needs a rest, his...

Match Thread Coventry City vs. AFC Wimbledon Match Thread - Saturday 12th Jan

Confident we’ll come back to win. We are creating chances and eventually one will go in. If at 60 minutes we haven’t scored then we may have to go direct with JCH and hope it’s one of his good days.

Match Thread Coventry City vs. AFC Wimbledon Match Thread - Saturday 12th Jan

I agree, but I’d also add Hiwula has shown some good touches and link play, but equally he’s also missed a few chances. Bright also has a good touch and has contributed offensively, albeit his positional sense is poor. So that’s 6/10 outfield players with 3/4 of the remaining players being...

Apologies hadn’t realised that. Apologies again for attempting to not be completely negative and provide a balanced view.

Positive; good interplay between players often resulting in good chances. Negative; nobody in our team can shoot. If we had another technical striker I’d put them on for Chaplin. Not sure it’s a game for JCH. Or even a left winger for Chaplin.

Hiwula is making a few runs and has a few good touches to link play. They’re definitely both quiet though.
