Match Thread Coventry City vs. Accrington Stanley Match Thread - Saturday 3rd Nov

Agreed, and he was absolutely right in the 2nd half by continually pointing out that our defence were too deep, meaning our forwards were too isolated when we had the ball. MIght not be profesional - but its local radio - and I enjoyed listening to an ex CCFC player getting so into the game.

What have you seen in Kelly that would make our midfield more 'dynamic' if he replaced Doyle? I've seen marks as high as 8 for Kelly's performance yesterday, but other than being an improvement on a very poor Ogogo, I just don't see he did anything other than sit too deep in midfield playing...

Sisu - My message to you

You are re-inventing history there. When Wasps publicly came on the scene we were still playing at Northampton, with Fisher & Co still peddling the new stadium line. Yes we pretty much all knew it was bluster, and designed into pressuring ownership of the Ricoh to SISU on their terms, but the...

    Now vs Then

Another big difference between your comparative teams are that the players in both teams (Burge, Davies, Willis & Bayliss), now have the extra confidence and belief in themselves instilled by our promotion, and which has made them better players as a result.

    Next 7 games

I always cringe when I read this kind of thread. Always follows a decent result or two, then we all optimistically predict a bumper haul of points, only for the football God's to treat our over confidence with disdain, and we all come crashing to Earth with a sequence of bad results. I know its...

The Guardian Coventry City Face Homeless future after Sisu's litigious aggression

He's clearly another one of your many 'hate' figures that play, or have played for us. It must have really torn at you last season when he was getting so many plaudits, so much so that the hatred just oozes out of every post where you mention him.

    League one step up?

The times we struggled last season, was against defensive minded, bullying teams. The opposition aren't quite so defensive in this league and I think the experience some of our younger players had in those hard times last season has toughened them up too.

The Guardian Coventry City Face Homeless future after Sisu's litigious aggression

Doyle wasn't our midfield weak link in the Championship, and was the sort of player that most successful Championship teams have in their team. The problem more often than not was with his midfield partners, like Clingan and Hughes, who simply weren't attacking or positive enough. Our best...

Match Thread Southend United vs. Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 20th Oct

I doesn't really matter now as we won anyhow but if we hadn't this would have been a much better issue. The fact is that between them, the ref & lino should have got that decision right, & even if the lino was unsighted, the ref should have been better positioned to see it for himself. Not sure...

I thought he played quite well yesterday and gave their defence a hard time. While he didn't win everything in the air he did win his fair share. He laid off a lovely cushioned header for Hiwula who blazed the chance over early in the game, and also headed on Doyle's corner for Hiwula's goal...

    Sterling

    Sterling

You're kidding yourself if you don't think Sterling was anything but extremely poor in our first 6 games or so, but fair do's to the lad he looks a different player right now. Sticking with him now looks a masterstroke on Robin's part, but it would have been interesting if he would have done so...

What area of Coventry has the highest amount of City fans per capita?

My son went to school in Bedworth and also played football for club teams based there. Of those in the teams he played about half were Cov fans at the most, although worryingly there were more Cov supporting Dads, but whose sons had chosen to support other teams. Cov were the only team that...

What area of Coventry has the highest amount of City fans per capita?

I've lived in Wyken, Earlsdon, Radford, Longford and Stoke in my time, and would rank them as 1 - Longford, 2 - Wyken, 3 - Stoke, 4 - Radford, 5 - Earlsdon in my experience. I'd forgotten I also lived in Cheylesmore too - but never really felt that was a CCFC stronghold. Also lived in Rugby up...

Match Thread Coventry City vs. Wycombe Wanderers Match Thread - Saturday 13th Oct

I don't disagree - he has ability for sure. The question is whether it is team orders or his own natural instincts that lead him to err onto the negative side. Incidentally I think Robins will start with the same team as at Charlton last week.

Match Thread Coventry City vs. Wycombe Wanderers Match Thread - Saturday 13th Oct

Watched just about every game. I just haven't seen this hard tackling no nonsense player that you and others seem to think he is. In the odd game where he has played without Doyle, this season & last, he & the team have been completely ineffectual. I think there is potential in him, but other...

Match Thread Coventry City vs. Wycombe Wanderers Match Thread - Saturday 13th Oct

Really? While I don't disagree with your assessment of Doyle, I'm not sure I've ever seen Kelly make a tackle. He is one of the modern type of midfielders that hold English football back - while I acknowledge he has some ability, he basically just sits deep playing safe passes, but rarely gets...

    Charlton: A Few Thoughts

To be fair I think you've had a bit of a downer on Doyle for a while. I seem to remember you were crying out for Kelly to be preferred to him last season, until the spell we had without him around February last year proved how much we actually did need him. He has not been half as bad this...
