    Come January

Wasn't Darius Henderson an old head? That worked well!

    Robbie retiring.

Loved watching him play for us and was gutted when we sold him so soon after signing him. Of course we then went and got relegated too. One thing on the lack of celebration thing though - check out his celebration when he scored the winner for Leeds against us - the full somersault etc, so...

    Video Fleetwood v Coventry

I remembered the 2nd coming from an awful pass from Brown that lost us possession, but to compound that I hadn't quite realised just how pathetic he was in giving up on chasing the goal scorer once he got the ball.

Surprised Brown is being marked so well. Yes he got forward a bit but he got caught out of position frequently. Don't know where he was for their first goal but it came from his side, and if I remember right their 2nd goal came from an extremely casual pass from him to lose us possession, from...

    Your January transfer window

I think Stockley is a decent shout and could be a better fit with Chaplin than JCH. Hopefully we keep Thomas to the end of the season. I think Doyle is unlikely to be replaced until the end of the season, but a player I would look at to replace him either way would be Sam Finley at Accrington...

    Memorable Sky Blue debuts...

Stuart Pearce's debut was pretty impressive. If I remember right Bobby Gould pretty much put him straight in the team having signed him from non league Wealdstone. Anyhow we played QPR and I can still remember the gasp from the crowd when he made first tackle on the unfortunate QPR winger...

Burton looked a decent team to me & deserved their win. We struggled to get in the game. Don't understand why Hiwula wasn't subbed. That's two league games on the trot that he has been particularly poor but has still played the full 90 minutes. Burge - 8 Grimmer - 4 Willis - 6 Hyam - 6 Brown - 5...

But he grew up & went to school in Bedworth. His accent is a bit of a giveaway too.

    Talented Footballers from Coventry

Well not me by the sound of it. I was born away as my Dad was in the forces. Mother's family from Cov & father's from Nottingham. Until I was 20 I lived in Cov for 3 years & Rugby for 13 years, but because of family connections always regarded Cov as my home town. Looks like I was wrong :)

Pretty awful game. I liked the look of Burroughs when he came on, but otherwise nobody really had a good game. While I'm not convinced yet by Bakayoko I would give him a little leeway tonight though, because we left him completely isolated with nothing to feed off.

There is a clear Cov connection though. Where did he play his junior football before he joined Villa? Nuneaton and Bedworth have their own junior leagues, but the better players and teams usually end up playing in the Cov junior leagues so would be interesting to know. Also, what about...

Andy Blair and Lee Hurst were from Bedworth. Also surprised no one has mentioned Bobby Gould.

    Your Cov City Highlights ?

He also scored similar goals at Forest, when we stuffed them 4-2, and at QPR. The QPR one was more of a lob from just inside their half which went sailing over David Seaman's flailing arms, setting a precedent for Nayim and Ronaldinho to follow in later years.

    Your Cov City Highlights ?

We beat Watford 5-0 - Peter Bodak had the game of his life if I remember right. Also pretty sure the Man U game was 3-2. Memorable games all though.

So lets get this right - Thompson is never a full back, Doyle's legs have gone, Ogogo is poor, Shipley is a League 2 player, Chaplin & Bakayoko are poor signings etc. Anyone would think that we would be in the relegation zone, rather than around the play offs.

Although I am a great fan of what Doyle brings us I would have thought his figures must be skewed by taking nearly all our set pieces. The last table is the most interesting for me though as it identifies those younger players (like Bayliss) who do provide a more attacking outlet. I was...

The lower than average markings are simply a reflection of our raised expectations brought about by our winning run so shouldn't be that surprising. With regard to Bayliss the balance of our team is plainly better with him. Given the previous game we missed him was at Bristol Rovers (I think), I...

    Cup Matches... Play or Rest?

Cheltenham : O'Brien: Grimmer, Thompson, Hyam, Mason (Camwell if Mason not fit): Jones, Kelly, Ogogo, Shipley: Andreu, Bakayoko: For Walsall I would probably look at bringing in the likes of Burge, Brown, Davies & Hiwula. With regard to subs I would go with youth for the Cheltenham game, but...
