    observer article

These xxxx costs the economy £xxx million/billion (delete as applicable) "studies" always strike me as total bollocks. Take a couple of facts, throw in a few (probably) tenuous assumptions and multiply them all out so that you can get a good headline. Flu costs the British economy £xxx Bad...

    Best Winter Matches ?

Great thread, thanks for starting it, but...... can I say for the eleventy billionth time that the 5-4 against Norwich WASN'T ON BOXING DAY!!! Sorry, got a bit over excited. We played at Villa on Boxing Day that year - the game that Graham Oakey (best attacking full back I've seen?) got...

sisu ....re sir jack haywoods funeral

My Dad played football with Sir Jack, long before the knighthood. Said he was a great bloke. All I know is that he got us a couple of tickets for the '87 cup final :claping hands:

Bob Ainsworth on ACL sale to Wasps

Agree entirely with that, but some earlier posters appeared to be saying that the existence of the loan was irrelevant to the overall valuation. If they really believe that, I'd love the chance to sell a company to them :)

Bob Ainsworth on ACL sale to Wasps

I don't like the sale of ACL to Wasps. I think it puts our club in a very dangerous position. However, to try to construct an argument that the loan in ACL is somehow irrelevant to the overall valuation of the company is nonsense.

    Les Reid prefers GMK

One of the most entertaining threads for a while. It's fantastic how the same "fact" can be interpreted in such different ways. On the one hand an award winning campaigning journalist's comments only go to prove the superiority of GMK over the infiltrated and misled SBT. On the other hand the...

CWR constantly banging on about the play offs .......

I thought that Stuart Linnell had been a bit more critical of what's going on at the club recently.

Back then he wasn't brilliant , but in this current team .........

Thought he was still here. Or have I missed an announcement?

Season Ticket Holders: Are You Renewing?

I will. It'll be more out of habit than enthusiasm, but perhaps next year will be better...........

    Great City left backs

Remember when we signed Jim Brogan from Celtic (I think) and he fought it out with Chris Cattlin for the left back spot. Used to have half the West End chanting "Spider" and the other half chanting "Brogan".

They have been accused of many things, but never of having common sense!

    Interview with Alan Dugdale

Great interview. Duggie was a proper old fashioned centre half. Don't think many of today's forwards would fancy a game against him!

    Great City left backs

Yep, Danny started as a very promising midfielder, but when he converted to full back he certainly played on the right.

    Great City left backs

I remember him being in a Scotland squad along with Jim Blyth and Ian Wallace just before the 1978 World Cup finals, but I can't remember if he played.

"The preferred site for the new stadium was revealed..."

Personally, I'd have been happy with you attending and being bound by confidentiality afterwards. At least I'd have been confident that the Board would have been "robustly challenged".

"The preferred site for the new stadium was revealed..."

I think that there being "supporter representation" on or talking to the Board has to be a "good thing". As many have pointed out however, it's pretty much inevitable that the people in question will be subject to at least a degree of confidentiality. Given that, it would have been sensible to...
