I think that with the money Doug has sanctioned for Robins and the recruitment team to use, he’s within his right to be somewhat annoyed if the midfield get turned over week in week out and we miss out on the play offs again.

Tbf, I don’t think it’s through lack of trying… I think we’re actually trying to sign top players with real quality. However it pains me to say it, but because of our recent SISU tenure and the absolute shambles that it was. Top players still look at us and think, Coventry City? Nah mate.

This day smells of trying all day, targets falling through, get to 9.30pm and we sack it off with “That concludes our business”

The issue we face, it’s that we have Sheaf this year, so ideally we needed to supplement the midfield adequately to have a real good go. Next season we will still have this CM problem, coupled with the fact we will have an extremely tough task to replace Sheaf.

If the Simms swap deal for Billing + cash is true, I’d be seriously considering it.. We have Haji, BTA and Bassette for the CF position, it would free up EMC to play on his preferred left hand side and a midfield 3 of Billing, Sheaf and Rudoni would dominate almost every team in this league...

Agreed in that circumstance perhaps, but you’ve just listed a lot of variables. That’s like saying “What if all 4 CBs are injured? Then what?” Cover is cover.

I’m still of the opinion that we have plenty of cover at RB, we have Lati, Eccles and Tats if needs be, it really isn’t a priority. There’s really no need to spend a decent amount of money on a player that isn’t going to get in at any point in front of the best RB in the division.
