Not one for bashing players at games, but I personally don’t see it with Eccles, don’t knock his work rate and his fight in games. Unfortunately both in and out of possession he is limited. Steady, but will never take control of a midfield battle.
The amount of people that think a pay as you play deal still exists in professional football is baffling. Especially for a player that has the ability to play in the championship.
So you agree that statistically he is top 3 in the world then currently? You must be on the same drugs then! He was clever, but he’s also clearly far far better than anything we’ve had and will have for a very long time.
That happened at Brentford before they got promoted, they sold better players and bedded in new ones. and statistically yes, Gyokeres is top 3. I thought you were big on facts? Or does that not suit your argument this time?
I think people’s beef is your need to sensationalise everything.. The team has regressed, but I think it’s a case of taking a few steps back to go forwards. We were *extremely* lucky the last couple of seasons with recruitment. Gyokeres is a 100m€ striker and current top 3 in the world. Hamer is...
The problems really aren’t as deep as some are making out. The problem is quite simply the midfield. Nothing to do with coaching methods or systems. Whatever system we play we will be poor because the midfield just isn’t good enough. If you took Eccles and Torp out and swapped them with Hamer...
I’m not buying this too many cooks synopsis.
I’m sure bigger clubs than us I.e Man City Utd etc etc, in fact probably all of the premier league clubs have more staff than we do. This isn’t Sunday league.
Tbf, it is abit deflating, yes we've spent a considerable amount of money to achieve top 6 and we have exceptional forward options. But we have to get the ball to them. The midfield has got progressively worse. We’ve gone from the box of
Sheaf*
Hamer
O’Hare
Palmer
to
Torp
Eccles
Allen
Rudoni...
Personally think on the face of it and in hindsight it’s a poor decision letting him go. Whatever you thought of him, he could sometimes give us the edge and spark us into life I.e Bristol City. All we’ve done is weaken ourselves and options whilst strengthening a rival.
