Difficult to say. Personally, I think that had we kept or replaced King we would have had an OK season - but we'll never know.... The only point that I was trying to make is that whilst controlling expenditure is "a good thing", this is dependant on the overall context in which this is taking...

    Convinced

I think that the point is that you need a coherent and rational business plan. Simply "driving down expenditure" can do more harm than good. As things currently stand, I'm finding it difficult to discern what that plan is. You're comment sounds good, but we've been "driving down...

Do you not agree that if you drive expenditure down by £1, but in the process lose revenue of £2, that you are worse off?

    Thanks to OSB58

Speaking as an accountant who can't be bothered to put in the effort that he does - I'm very grateful for his succinct analysis.

Really can't see that. You'll always find someone willing to a pay a few million.

Sky Blue Sports & Leisure 2013 accounts

Quite honestly FP, I have no idea. Normally you try to predict the future by assuming that people will act rationally - which would suggest one of my two alternative scenarios - but we are playing at Sixfields....

I would have to question the use of "inevitable". There are other options. SISU could see sense and reverse their ridiculous decision to move to Northampton, or they could decide that they are still not "at the bottom of the business cycle" (copyright TF) and sell for a reasonable price. Or...

The game with the unusual "hat-trick" from Garry Thompson. One of the best atmospheres I can remember at HR.

    Comebacks

You're right. I'm pretty sure that it was a League Cup match. We were 2-0 down at half time and not playing well. Now if I remember correctly, Dion had been out injured for a few games and hadn't been expected to be fit in time for the game, but was on the bench. He came on at half time...

The nature of a football club

Speaking from memory, in the early days of satellite TV Sky were making a loss and struggling to attract sufficient customers. They'd been working on the basis that the movie channels would bring in subscribers, but people were still happy to go to Blockbuster etc. It was when they got live...

The club (well, SISU) have indeed stated that they won't take a rental deal at the Ricoh - they have never however put forward a rational explanation for this stance. On the "purchase price" issue, I am in full agreement with you. I have asked many times why SISU are (supposedly) willing to...

Yes and the rent was £1.2m per year - both of these are historic facts, only of relevance to those who wish to make a point. The relevant information is that SISU were offered a 3 year deal at very attractive rent within the last few months.

That is true, but they have never explained why. ML made some rather strange comment on CWR about it "putting our business model at risk" (I think that was the quote), without explaining how the evil ACL/CCC axis would achieve this. To any rational person, if the new stadium is a reality, a...

Enjoyed Django, but the violence did come across as a bit "cartoonish".
