Is CCFC England's latest franchise club?

I fear it is. SISU are a hedge fund. Their sole purpose is to make money. They know nothing about football (as is clear). For those who don't know, down the road from here, a fella called Winkie owned some land in Milton Keynes. He got Asda to agree to build a whole stadium for him for free...

Coventry pay to resurface Sixfields pitch as waggot predicts us playing there

The football club is a franchise of SISU. Sorry if that annoys one or two people but it's surely now undeniable.

    Ricoh yes/no

Sorry I think No. All the evidence is that the Hedge Fund is looking for real estate opportunities and is treating the FC as a franchise. Sorry, just my opinion and observation.

    People getting excited over nothing

But they did! They referred to getting "some other sports franchises" into the Ricoh. And that's what I think is going wrong with football in this country. Football clubs should represent their town. And not just have their Golden Share used and abused as franchises for property developers...

    People getting excited over nothing

I hope you're right. But living here in Northampton we saw property developer Winkie steal Wimbledons golden share to meet his Section 106 planning requirements to get Asda build him a stadium for free. Sisu seem to be interested in using the club to get real estate too. Do you really think...

You are quite correct. SISU own the Golden share or "sports franchise" as ACL term it. SISU treat CCFC as a franchise so why would they care what town you play in?

Has ML picked up the phone to ACL yet?

My understanding is that ML called ACL last Friday. Unfortunately they have Caller ID and when they saw who it was they didn't pick up the phone. They had told ML they needed to hear from him first by email. But very unfortunately indeed ML can only type with one finger and his internet...

A Letter to the football league

I fully agree with you. Coventry City, the disgrace of Franchise FC, the farce of Cardiff and other stupidities all caused by a FL and FA thinking only about money and ignoring the types of people we now have running football clubs.

Ricoh chairman says it would be a "tragedy" if CCFC didn't return

That's not the first time ACL have referred to CCFC as one of several "sports franchises". I remember when a towns football team was...a towns football team. English football really is being damaged by dodgy businessmen, hedge funds, property developers in Milton Keynes etc etc.

    official attendance

So to protest the temporary loss/franchise of your club, your plan is to pay to watch the club theiving Franchise FC? I just don't get that. And it sends a terrible message IMO.

    A mad crazy idea ?

It seems stupid to play home games 35 miles away but SISU chose that. If they could get some prime real estate near Birmingham do you think they wouldn't create a new franchise there? Big catchment area. Bigger than Cov. And all the hotels, entertainment etc as well as "Coventry Brummies"...

    A mad crazy idea ?

I hope you're right. But SISU clearly don't care about the fans. They care only for money. And if they franchise the club to - say - Rugby or anywhere else for that matter would you be surprised? Really? I wouldn't.

    A mad crazy idea ?

Other than Franchise FC of course (their badge has 2003 on it). I fear Franchise 2 is happening here in the town I live in...but we don't need or want it!

    Barnsley supporter here (again)..

My own opinion is that CCFC fans - most of all - but also others like Barnsley should avoid MK Franchise FC for the same reason. Winkie began franchised football in England. SISU seem to be extending it further. We shouldn't encourage any of them IMO.

    whats everyone doing then ?

As Spionkop says, it's got to the point where you are almost Franchise FC B team. I live near Sixfields and occasionally watch Cobblers. Never watched CCFC there last season and won't this season. For similar reasons I've always avoided matches at MK Dons. They're just the personification...

Mk Dons game will be the Barometer

Though I feel sorry your team is temporarily franchised to my town, that sympathy is stretched when a lot of the fans paid Mr Franchise himself (Winkie) £100k in away tickets. MK Dons are the original franchise. They started the rot which SISU have continued. In my eyes they should both be...

    Football League Attendance Analysis 13/14

Might I respectfully suggest Cov fans avoid the Franchise FC away match next season? SISU followed where they led and putting 100k into the back pocket of Winkie - Mr Franchise himself - doesn't really help you get your message out to other teams supporters. A big protest in Cov on 23 August...

    Redevelopment of sixfields

Oh dear. If it turns out like that Cardoza will be a laughing stock. And they wonder why the locals go to Franklins Gardens where 17,000 enjoy top level sport in a superb stadium. Or, you could go to a 9,500 stadium for 4th division football and see half empty stands. But as you can't see...
