I could see that happening. But it wouldn't be the council that brought in a new club, it would be MGI Fiduciary. If at the end of 2+2 they could franchise in an EPL or high end Championship team who doesn't own it's stadium they might give it serious thought.

But MGI are in the entertainment/casino business. Wasps is their first ever sports franchise and helped them secure the Ricoh (with it's casino etc). MGI are far more likely to sell Wasps in the future than buy CCFC IMO. They have no track record in sports franchises and one is probably more...

Richardson's company is called Moonshine. Moonshine are part of MGI Fiduciary Services (Malta). Wasps owners are, ultimately, MGI. Being based in Malta is presumably beneficial to them.

Why would MGI Fiduciary Services (Malta) want to buy a loss making 3rd division football club with few assets? They would only be interested if a small EPL team could be bought and franchised to their stadium in Coventry.

I totally agree with all that. I'm still amazed CCFC fans protested the (temporary) franchise of their team to Northampton by taking 7,000 to the match v MK Franchise. Still perhaps that was just niavety back then. Since then , for whatever reason, Coventry has become central to ''franchised...

I doubt that's true unfortunately. The (temporary) move to Northampton was approved no problem. The precedent has been set by Franchise FC. A move to the Brum area is very easy to imagine if it helps SISU recoup some losses.

That's partly true. After all Wasps don't own Ricoh but MGI Fiduciary Services (Malta) do. But Wasps are part of the MGI stable and it's clear MGI see their rugby franchise as part of their profit hopes, as they also see the Ricoh for the same thing. SISI have been pushed out completely...

Probably not a popular comment but as Wasps branding takes over Ricoh and SISU get zero revenues from the stadium, the more I expect them to move CCFC. I don't see they can afford a new ground so a franchise out seems likely. MGI won't mind if they can franchise in a small EPL club instead...

I'm pleased to say the locals ignored them. Whether it was through apathy or principle I don't know, but the temporary franchise at Sixfields was totally ignored by the local paper and people in general. It seems one or two CCFC supporters don't plan to do the same when a franchise suddenly...

Why would MGI Fiduciary Services want a third division club? If they had wanted that they would have bought and moved RFC Coventry there. Instead, they franchised a Premiership team...London Wasps. I'm sure that when the opportunity arises MGI will move to franchise a PL football team.
