Yes, think her name was Ellen. In the early 90's went to Maine Road to watch us with a Man City supporting mate whose lad played in their youth team. Ellen was giving it plenty with the bell throughout the match right behind the goal. Afterwards we got into the Players Bar and I sat down with a...

    Lands End is rubbish......

Shame, hope you enjoy them. We were in Swanage last week and visited the Cornish Pasty Shop. Presumably it's genuine and the queue was out the door. Bloody lovely pasties too.

In Lancashire it's a barmcake or barm for short. Over in Nottingham/Derby, I believe it's called a cob.

Pub games and social life these days.

Cheap beer was one of the attractions and also the variety of beers and lagers available across the range of clubs. We always looked forward to games at the Knights of St Columba club which served draught Ayingerbrau. Usually resulted in a lock in til about 2 in the morning.

Pub games and social life these days.

As parodied by the Wheetappers and Shunters and also Phoenix Nights, committee members saw themselves as all powerful. The general manager of our club, which admittedly was a large corporately funded social and athletic club, received a company car.

Pub games and social life these days.

Whilst living up in Lancashire c.30 years ago, I joined a social club and found out they participated in a winter games league that involved 10 or 12 clubs within a 5 mile radius. These clubs covered a broad selection of the community - work based (BL and Milk Marketing Board), political...
