    Matchday Rewind Coventry City 2 - 1 Sunderland | Sun, 06 Aug, 2006

Think this was Mcsheffrey's last game before we sold him to Birmingham, which swiftly brought our hopes down for the season ahead

    Your personal City cult hero

Andy Blair, David Phillips, David Smith, Sean Flynn, Cedric Roussel, Carl Baker and Michael Doyle are players that I always found myself routing for, despite a sizable number of our support being critical of them.

So where does hamer go now?

Did that actually happen? I remember reading at the time a comment that everyone on the coach realised Hamer and Gyokores were leaving, but that is different to them actually standing up and announcing to everyone that they were leaving.

    Wright

Despite being disappointed by his play off performances, after seeing some of the possible replacements touted on here I think I would rather stick with Wright. Despite his lacklustre demeanour, injury free he is a cert for 15+ goals, which is not the case for his possible replacements. I also...

    Eccles

I thought Eccles had a really good cameo tonight, with his injury unfortunately coming from a vital block. Probably depends whether Sheaf stays, but I don't think its a certainty that Eccles will leave in the Summer.

Match Thread Coventry v Sunderland Championship Playoff 1st Leg Friday 9th May

One of my old bosses is a Sunderland fan and has told me that their fans are apparently planning on mobbing the route of the team bus on its way to the stadium tomorrow night!

    Evening form

Sky put some stats up during the first leg showing we have scored far and away more goals from crosses and more headed goals than any other team in the Championship which obviously goes against your point. I think sometimes our problem is partly that we often delay the first crossing opportunity...

Match Thread Sunderland - Coventry City Match Thread - Tuesday 13th May

Scoring the first goal is more crucial than ever on Tuesday night. Its going to be interesting to see if Sunderland adopt the same tactics though, as its the tactics adopted by a smaller inferior club playing a 'bigger' team, and goes against how their fans feel about their club, whereby they...

    Errors Leading To Goals

Not seen it back yet but could Wilson have brought the player down? Their player was outside the box so there wouldn't have been a penalty as a result, although Wilson could obviously then have been sent off, and we'd have had Collins back in goal in his place!

    Forte Disallowed Goal

I think we had Notts County's number on that night regardless. The Middlesbrough play off game had me much more on edge.

    Average attendances home and away

MK Dons was always a good one for boosting our away average in years gone by. Didn't we take 7,500 there in the year we played at Northampton, where our support was only about 2,000?

    Sunderland away tickets

Just an observation on the 'supporters club' issue. As long as the number of tickets taken by the supporters clubs doesn't exceed the number of members in each points bracket I don't really have a problem with other supporters club members accessing those tickets. Although its on a slightly...

One of Northampton, Burton, Port Vale or Walsall I suspect.

I would have thought it would be on in one of the multi screen sports bars they have there.

    Player ratings v Boro

Simms is immensely frustrating as he plainly has the tools to be a good player, but seems to lack desire and is too often on the back foot. Early in the first half yesterday when Wright put a cross in that went over Simms head I was wondering why he wouldn't instinctively look to jump as Wright...

    Who would you sell?

Rudoni is going to be very hard to keep if we don't get promoted. I suspect that the other promoted teams will be interested in him and a few other teams already in the PL.

Playoff semi final tickets on sale 6pm today

Or you could beat someone to it with more points than you, it is what it is! When we have 20,000+ season ticket holders the only guaranteed way to get yourself a ticket for such games is by becoming a season ticket holder yourself.

    He's Magic You Know

Before kick off was really worried seeing him in the tunnel where he looked as nervous as Collins has done recently. He also had that bad touch early in the game, but from then on was excellent and played a big part in the team's victory.

    Angus Gunn

Gunn played pretty well against us, but it looks like he had an ordinary season away from those games. Not a fan of bringing in players based on them playing well against us, as we've been bitten by such signings in the past as mentioned earlier in the case of Clayton Ince.

Watching the Boro game in Hackney…

I was in the Empire Casino in Leicester Square a couple of weeks ago and the Sports Bar seemed happy to show whatever people wanted. They had both PL & Championship games on so I reckon you could get it shown there.
