Match Thread ⚽️ Watford vs Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 5th Nov

I didn't see that one coming in truth. Individually, we might not have the best team in the division, but we've definitely got a side that is better than the sum of its parts. That's down to the manager, imho, and I wouldn't swap Robins for anyone. Great result, chuffed to bits.

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

Would actually make a lot more sense for phoenix Wasps to share at the Butts. At least it's handy for the train station for their genuine supporters and it's not too big! And as a Cov rugby fan I'd be more than happy to politely welcome their new owners with a warm shake of the throat and a...

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

Just whilst I'm on one, can I just add that anything that is coffee-flavoured that isn't actually a cup of coffee is completely disgusting. There, I've said it... (Also proper coffee comes in a jar and requires a kettle and a spoon. Anything else is clearly just for effect). 😁

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

Slight aside from the critical Bounty debate, but it's interesting to read how few Wasps fans are keen on a possible return to the CBS. At least I found it interesting to read. (Marathons are the best thing in the celebrations range anyhow. Beyond dispute. And I'm not calling them Snickers...

Outstanding strategy! I'll be using that over Christmas. 😄

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

They're saying that they're involved, Nick, but that's not the same as actually being involved. Again, whatever Duggins claims, what actual power do the Council have to control who buys ACL?

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

Personal opinion mate, they're just blagging to make themselves look better. To look like they care about CCFC, or that they took some precaution when selling to Wasps to protect the club. We know for a fact of course, that was just bullshit. What actual legal power do they have to stop a sale...

My thoughts precisely. I reckon torch will come round to our opinion in the end, though I can see where he's coming from. Seeing them go bust twice here would be moderately enjoyable I suppose. 😁

Don't forget the new light railway that supposed to be coming. Though in finest Council tradition, they'll probably close it on match days if a stadium did magically appear next to a line. 😁

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

As previous, the Council can say whatever they want, and make some pretence about giving a shit about either jobs in the local area or CCFC. However, having sold 100% of ACL to Wasps, they've got no real leverage here. Personally, I'm taking that as a positive.

What if HMRC "blindside" us, like they suddenly did to Wasps, eh. 😄

But the NEC have a background in events and exhibitions, and are on the doorstep. Synergy, to use a buzzword. Where's MA's background in that business, and what are the chances that he's suddenly more interested in it than football?

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

Not an unfair point SBWM, but it doesn't seem an unreasonable assumption based on his past behaviour. Would ACL as a business without the club really be of interest to him though, is there anything in his past that suggests he's suddenly up for Arena/Entertainments as a business? Could be...

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

Mate, in fairness I wouldn't want to claim to be 100%, but given how insular and small the rugby world is, and how high profile MA is, I can't believe he wouldn't have been noticed at any ground had he turned up. He doesn't seem big on being incognito! (Also is literally too big to be incognito...

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

Err... because he's never been seen at any of their games perhaps? Or expressed any interest in rugby. Or used his massive wealth to pitch in and help at an earlier critical point in their history, say at Adams Park? Other than that it's entirely plausible. 🙂

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

I don't think there's any way that Ashley buys the ground without the intention to buy the club at some point. He obviously wants back into football somewhere. The only question is whether there's already been discussions with SISU, or whether he'll wait until the club is in enough trouble that...

Assuming there really hasn't been contact with SISU, that's the only way it makes sense to me.

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

There are a couple of things going round that I've got to say just don't add up to me. First is the idea that Ashley would buy Wasps. That would make no sense at all. There is no money to be made from Wasps and he doesn't need to buy goodwill to purchase ACL; he's just got to have the best bid...

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

A remarkable reversal of the truth. Bit like "we won't sell to Wasps if it can ever impact CCFC", and, "we want to build trust before discussing ownership". He'd be better advised to just shut up, frankly, and stay well out of it. Nothing good ever comes of CCC involvement with CCFC. One day...
