It's massively over exaggerated to fit the narrative. Back in those days the final fixtures didn't all kickoff at the same time anyway. Other teams in the relegation battle; Spurs, Stoke & West Ham all played at different times (even different days).

Whatever deduction they get won't really be sufficient. Everton got 6pts for going £20m over. Leicester exceeded it by more than £110m (more than double the permitted amount). It's blatant, wilful cheating.
