Spurs Ratings

Pinnock and Thomas 7.5 - both proving to be a brilliant partnership in these past few games.
MVE 6 albeit shaky, he doesn’t half get you out of tricky situations with his pace and athleticism. JDS showing consistency against another difficult opponent in kudos. Signs tonight that we’re not far off at all, need to take advantage of these home games and kick on. Proud of the boys tonight. Rudi a 7 as was BTA and saka for their hard work and ability to try and get us up the pitch. Top of the pitch Cherif 6 for such a young lad is unfazed and will get better. Subs so poor, barring Onyeka who gives you those legs in there.
Mve doesn't get us out of anything in this league. He's cost us multiple goals

His pace isnt the weapon it was in the championship, still time to get up to speed though, though Id think about starting KKH Saturday personally.
Tats was wasted covering for MVE most of the game. Tbh MVE tucked in and hid a bit.
KKH deserves some game time.
No idea what the plan is with Mfuni tbh.

Finishing 17th would be a great achievement and outperforming realistic expectations
Teams that finish 17th lose more games than they win and more than they draw
So you don’t lose your shit when we lose away at a side that has spent £300mn
That’s how you cope!
Tbh the £300m isn't relevant. They were pretty poor, especially at the back. We gave them too much respect first half and could have gone for it more.

Rushworth 2
MVE 4
Thomas 6
Pinnock 7
Dasilva 6
Grimes 3
Yirenkyi 5
Rudoni 7
Sakamoto 6
Astante 4
Cherif 6

Subs
Awoniyi 2 (somehow made us worse)
Hamer 4
Mason-Clark 4
Onyeka 6
KKH 3

Lampard 1

Tactics all wrong. Why does Lampard persist with the same shite? His stubbornness will see him out of a job by Christmas.

What a load of dross

How Awonyi gets back in even as a sub, after his stupidity and crap performances, is beyond me. Simms should be getting minutes ahead of that Wetherspoons bouncer.

Thought Cherif did well and far better than Awonyi at holding it up.

Transfer spending and wage bill are the best predictors of final league position

I thought we nullified them well, particularly given we played 4 at the back.

Lack of concentration from Yirenkyi, top strike from Maddison, MVE getting wrong side, and a Gk rick were the differences.

Money makes it more likely those small differentiators go the way of the higher spending team

I think there’s been multiple times this season he gets round to make critical tackles and gets in front of the striker/ winger when they arrive late in the box.

That’s where his pace gets us out of trouble to win fouls. Technically on the ball he leaves a lot to be desired, but he’s not as half bad as everyone makes out.

I think KKH will need some more minutes before he's able to start. But MVE does look a little lost at the moment.

We'll miss his long throws too.

Actually, does KKH have a good long throw? I feel like maybe he does

Tats covered the right back position most the night and let MVE tuck in as basically a 3rd centreback. MVE still easily got done for the 2nd goal. He's never been a good defender.

He’s never been a good defender? Oh lord. First name on the sheet the past few seasons. He’s been brilliant.

There is absolutely no way Hamer can play in central midfield in his current condition. And it is embarrassing that he hasn't got himself into shape still two months into the season.

it’s a disgrace. People can moan about lack of quality from players like BTA and Sakamoto but at least they work hard in training and take their career seriously. Hamer is Kasey Palmer mark 2. Zero application and bloated ego.

There was a few times last night where a bit of extra individual talent showed, controlling the ball, winning 50/50's and passing accuracy.

It seems to me that many fans don't understand what Grimes does for the team. He makes the rest of the team function and is vital. We couldn't afford to have Yirenkyi chasing around like a puppy if Grimes wasn't there. Our central defenders would be under far more pressure if Grimes wasn't there.
Given how little we see of the ball he isn't likely to boss midfield like he did in previous seasons.
And more importantly nor are any of our other midfielders. They all have to work very hard just for us to stay in the game, which they are doing.

A very good write up.
I think some of the issue is the severe lack of pace in the midfield & attacking areas (we brought exiled Frenchmen for this). It was even more noticeable last night when Cherif went off. There were occasions when Grimes had the ball and he was looking to pass forward but there was no movement in to space, or the channels, so he made the easy pass to JDS. I would like him to move forward more with the ball as Torp does. People want Yirenki & Onyeka to play together but the issue is that neither are positionally disciplined and we would constantly get played through.

MvE was never going to be a premier league player, as much as I like him. Poor defensively at this level and lacks confidence going forward. His pace and passion paper over the cracks. Saka, EMC, BTA legends of the last couple of years, love them to bits but PL quality? My biggest concern is that we can't get 2 big signings on the pitch. If it can't be resolved they need to go in Jan

Saka just doesn't work away from home, BTA gives us pace and energy and a great work rate, but fuck me is his control shite.
Yirenkyi is a great young talent, but needs resting for a couple of games.

Just cant believe that Torp isnt getting game time.
Saka did well when he was used. Just wasn’t brought into the game enough

Just thought of something ridiculous lol. We are missing Kitching's 60 yard cross field passes to him 😀. I know it sounds stupid (waits for the comments) but it really did open up the play for us. In general we are not playing these sort of passes this season, it seems we are scared to do so.
