Manchester City - 115 Charges (4 Viewers)

They’ll be expelled. And then bought back in at League Two level. You can tell by the wording of the PL statement they are not messing about. And MC have absolutely nothing. No evidence to the contrary. They can’t give anymore new evidence now so they’re done.

The bigger issue is fixing the PL. it’s a complete non-competitive entity. Only 3/4 teams can ever win it. The whole point of being a football fan is that when you go to games you have a 50/50 chance of winning. Pretty much every game we play will be 10/90 20/80 or maybe, if we’re lucky 30/70. As we’ve seen already.

And don’t get me started on the amount of money thrown about. Football needs a massive shake-up.

I think youre right about them being expelled, but that would be down to the member clubs not the PL.

I agree! But make sure coventry city get their money first🤣🤣🤣

UEFA however will most certainly hammer them for breaking their financial rules and can see a 5 year European football ban coming there way as a minimum.
They have already been dealt with by UEFA for breaking their spending rules, I'm not sure if they will look at any new evidence and charge them again.
The whole point of most team sports is that anyone can win on any given day sometimes against the odds and against better teams, the way we won the championship last season against better funded teams, some with better players, embodies that and it is why it was such a memorable, fantastic achievement. What must it be like to be so rich that you can ignore all the rules and buy success and then when you've got there be behind changing the rules to stop other teams trying to do the same. I think the owners, directors & anyone else involved or who knew what was going on should be banned from football for life. They should also be facing criminal charges for fraud.

The best thing about this is that when Man City are fucked off to the EFL (or hopefully lower) we will be the highest ranking 'City' in the country (once Hull's bubble bursts) so surely then Coventry fans will stop nauseatingly calling Manchester City 'City'.

I can live in hope at least.

👍Plus, we could do a quick 4th Kit and play in our true Skyblues colours. Many of their overseas fans will adapt quickly. Awoniyi can be Haaland…He always wore a long wig apparently. 😀
Are we thinking then that the reason for us not being in sky blue this year is because Man City had already called dibs on it?

As much as I would love this, I believe Prem teams are limited to 3 kits.

Calling the premier league “conspiracy theorists” when your whole club is now dependent on their mercy is a questionable tactic

Be surreal the day a neutral football supporter refer to Hull as “City” with no qualifier

The kits were already signed off last season before they even knew we were in the Premier League, so I think they just wanted to tie into the 1987 thing this year.

You'd hope we'll be proper sky blue next year though.

Is basically like a politician shouting Fake News at any fact they don’t like …

Yeah, seems to be the go to response quite a lot nowadays.
There will be some who genuinely believe it as well.

Not too long ago Saracens were relegated to the Championship following financial misconduct, I hope that the Premier League are just as strict with their punishment to MC.

IMO I don't see them getting *expelled and reinstated at the foot of the EFL, although there is an argument that this punishment would be appropriate.

I live up north and have a close Man City mate .. he is honestly raging at the prem league and anyone who suggests they have done wrong… he is now saying he doesn’t think financial irregularity is actually cheating anyway… this is the mindset of people who support the success rather than support the team …

Similar with Southampton fans. There might well be a day when something like this happens to our club and just hope I am not as tribal and delusion to defend cheating from my team. If I was a Man City fan the best that could happen is to accept the ruling rather than drag it out and embarrass for longer.

to be fair bigger clubs always have dominated. Liverpool won 10 titles in 15 years from the mid 70’s

This season it HAS to be at least enough points to relegate them, and I think it should be multiple points deductions over the next several years they spend in the Premier League.

If they go further than that and expel them, I dont think the EFL would accept them. Might have to be the National League in that case

On the plus side, it probably means we only need to beat 2 other teams to stay up this year.

2bf, i think the spending rules are stupid. It caps aspirational owners and teams and protects the biggest clubs.

That being said, there are rules in place - and ultimately Man City have broken them on a huge scale.

I can’t see how an outside body looks at them cheating, for that long, showing such contempt to the organisation they’re supposed to be a part of and decide that they should remain in it.

Those that live in and around Manchester that I have met are totally blinded by the amount of money the owners have spent to redevelop the areas around the Etihad.

Are there any tax implications with this £900m fraud? If the top bloke denies any knowledge and it’s up to underlings to take the rap is there criminal proceedings to follow?

That would never happen and the club's in the Premier league also wouldn't want it too happen as the broadcasters would demand money back for City not being in the league meaning all the other clubs would get less. They might not like it but they wouldn't want to lose 5, 10, 20 million each or whatever it would be.

Just for consistency can see the Premier League pushing for 4-6 points per charge as they have done previously or if anything happens in the future other clubs will say "Well city were only given 1 point deduction per charge so we think we should get the same"

UEFA however will most certainly hammer them for breaking their financial rules and can see a 5 year European football ban coming there way as a minimum.

The EFL will welcome them with open arms as they do with any big club as it brings more exposure to them. Would see an increase in revenue as well into the EFL when the Sheikh is mysteriously the new sponsor of the Johnstones Paint Trophy. You heard it here first!
The broadcasters may have to take the rough with the smooth. I doubt they’d be able to do anything given that they are aware of the Premier League rules etc. before any contract is signed.

This seasons kit was 40th Cup season anniversary.

It seems that all the income was reported as revenue, so from a taxation point of view everything has been declared.

The issue is that it breached the Premier League rules about what revenue could be used in their financial regulations.

It's always been the same. The difference now is you have less of a chance of everything coming together and having a lucky season like Leicester did.

We went nearly 50 years without a top 6 finish. Most of this was in the top flight. We had constant relegation battles and hardly ever troubled the top half of the table.

My question is how did they get away with it for so long?

Wonder if clubs fiddling the transfer market will be in trouble.

You buy our academy player for £20 mill and we will buy yours type of deals which have been going on the last 5 or 6 years.

Or sell an academy player for £15 mill which will be pure profit on the books and then rebuy him a year later for £16 million but you can then spread the transfer fee over 4 seasons.

No as at the moment that is perfectly legal.

Morally dubious but not against the rules and laws set out as they are.

Their cheating was not known about until a hacker revealed it all. Then they blocked every effort in trying to get to the truth. Add to this there's was well over 100 different charges to investigate.

Look at them now. Trying to work out how they can make it go on for even more years and threatening court action for massive damages.
